The Tamil Nadu government has revised the fare structure for autorickshaws operating in the Chennai Metropolitan Area and other regions of the State.

According to a notification published in the government gazette, the minimum fare has been fixed at ₹50 for upto 1.8 km. The additional fare will be ₹25 for every subsequent kilometre and the waiting charge has been fixed at ₹1 for every minute.

For travel between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., the night fare will be 1.5 times the regular fare. For travel involving a ghat road, the fare will be 1.2 times the minimum fare, with a base fare of ₹60. An additional charge of ₹30 will apply for every kilometre travelled on a ghat road.
