The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in association with district lead bank, Canara Bank, conducted the Dakshina Kannada district-level Currency Management Committee meeting and an awareness session in Mangaluru on Friday.
It focused on effective currency management and implementation of the RBI’s Clean Note Policy. RBI General Manager Sanjay Kumar presided over the meeting, which was attended among others by City Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sam Varghese, RBI AGM Tripta Roy, General Managers of Canara Bank Manjunath B. Singai and H.T. Baviskar, and GMs of Bank of Baroda and Union Bank of India Rajesh Khanna and Satyam Palguna.
The senior officers who addressed the participants highlighted important operational aspects relating to currency management, fake Indian currency notes (FICN) and efficient cash handling. During the technical sessions, RBI officials also deliberated upon various important aspects of currency management, including features of Indian banknotes and major security features, detection of FICN, note exchange facilities, Note Refund Rules and adjudication of banknotes.
The programme also provided an opportunity for interaction and exchange of views among the RBI, banks, customers, and other stakeholders to enhance awareness regarding proper handling of banknotes and adherence to regulatory requirements.
