Cosmetic products manufactured in Pakistan and allegedly imported into India without the required authorisation, worth about ₹7 lakh, were seized during searches at shops in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The Commissioner’s Task Force, Rajendranagar Zone, along with officials of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), inspected Beauty Ladies Emporium, Beauty Queen Shop and S.J. Medical Shop in Habeeb Nagar and Nampally on Wednesday (September 30, 2026).
The CDSCO officials identified the products as unauthorised or banned cosmetics mentioned in a public notice issued on September 8. The Police said the products did not have the registration certificate required for their import into India.

Heavy metals beyond permissible limits
According to police, the CDSCO notice had also flagged that certain such products contained heavy metals beyond permissible limits, potentially posing health risks to consumers.
Mumbai-based dealer under radar
A preliminary enquiry indicated that the cosmetics were being procured through a Mumbai-based dealer, suspected of arranging their supply from outside India and distributing them to dealers in Hyderabad. The police said the local sellers did not maintain proper purchase bills, invoices or other documents relating to the procurement of the Pakistan-origin products.
Similar cosmetics were allegedly found to be sold at Madina Cosmetic in Santosh Nagar. The investigators also learnt that additional stock was maintained at a godown, whose location, ownership and quantity of stock are being verified.
Five persons including 35-year-old Mohammad Fazal, 23-year-old Mohammad Ayan, 41-year-old Mohammad Riyazuddin, 54–year-old Syed Abid Ali, and 22-year-old Syed Ismail, were identified during the investigation.
A case was registered under Sections 123 and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 18-C and 27-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
The investigators were in the process of tracing the Mumbai-based supplier, the source and mode of import, financial transactions and other shops allegedly selling the products.
