Sri Ramakrishna Hospital – Sri Ramakrishna Cancer Care and Research Centre has launched the ‘Pink Path’, a breast cancer awareness initiative as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed globally in October.

The initiative aims to make information on breast cancer and breast health simple and accessible, with awareness available in both English and Tamil. The campaign focuses on symptoms, risk factors, early detection, diagnostic tests, treatment options, prevention, understanding personal risk, and survivor experiences.

The initiative was launched by Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja in the presence of Sundar Ramakrishnan, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust. The event was attended by C.V. Ramkumar, Chief Executive Officer, SNR Sons Charitable Trust; D. MaheshKumar, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr. Rajagopal, Medical Director, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital; and Dr. S. Alagappan, Medical Superintendent.

Dr. P. Guhan, Director and Consultant Medical Oncologist, Sri Ramakrishna Cancer Care and Research Centre, said, with breast cancer increasingly being diagnosed among young women, it is important for them to be aware of their breast health and seek medical attention at the earliest if they notice any changes. Early detection and timely treatment can play an important role in improving treatment outcomes.

As part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives, free mammogram screenings will be offered throughout October to women who register in advance by calling 0422-4500 000 or 0422-4389 797, he added.
