Commissioner of Railway Safety conducts high-level safety review meeting for South Coast Railway

Posted on October 1, 2026 By admin

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Central Circle, Madhavi, convened a high-level safety review meeting with the General Manager of South Coast Railway (SCoR), Sandeep Mathur, at the zonal headquarters here on Wednesday (September 30, 2026).

The high-level session was attended by Chief Safety Officer Ch.P.R. Vittal, along with all Principal Heads of Departments (PHODs), senior railway officials and Divisional Railway Managers participating via video link. The primary objective of the review was to evaluate overall safety performance across the zone, assess ongoing safety enhancement initiatives, review statutory compliance and formulate targeted action plans to ensure accident-free train operations.

During the meeting, the Commissioner of Railway Safety said safety remained the paramount value in railway operations. Detailed deliberations focused on critical facets of operational and infrastructural safety.

Emphasis was also laid on reviewing road safety works, the construction of road-over-bridges (ROBs) and road-under-bridges (RUBs), the interlocking of level crossing gates and continuous public awareness campaigns. Special attention was directed towards executing precautionary measures during the monsoon and expediting the installation and regular upkeep of modern safety technologies, such as the ‘Kavach’ automatic train protection system, digital axle counters and advanced fire detection systems in coaches.
