A Town Planning Officer and a senior assistant of Moinabad Municipality were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a ₹75,000 bribe to refrain from taking coercive action against a construction.
The accused were identified as Gundu Vani, Town Planning Officer, and Yelamoni Sudarshan, a former panchayat secretary of Moinabad gram panchayat, who is presently working on deputation as senior assistant in the municipality.
According to the ACB, Vani allegedly demanded and accepted ₹75,000 from the complainant through Sudarshan in return for the official favour.
Officials of the ACB’s City Range-2 caught the two during a trap on September 30. The bribe amount of ₹75,000 was recovered from Sudarshan’s possession at his instance, the agency said.
The ACB alleged that the two officials had acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties to obtain an undue advantage.
Both are being produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The identity and other details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons. Further investigation is under way.
