Kanniyakumari District Police have arrested four persons in connection with the burglary at the house of a YouTuber in Thammathukonam near Nagercoil on Thursday.
According to the police, the complainant, S. Vinodh Kumar, 32, a YouTuber, had gone to Tirunelveli with his family on Thursday and returned home late that night. When they attempted to open the door, they could not open the lock.
When Mr. Vinodh Kumar checked the rear side of the house, he found that the door had been broken open and around 100 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept in the house were missing. He lodged a complaint at Rajakkamangalam police station.
Seven special teams were formed to nab the burglars. The police examined 160 CCTV cameras and analysed 35 CDRs. Finally, they intercepted the suspects, C. Isakkipandi, 30, of Srivaikuntam, and E. Murugan, 28, of Mukkadal, who were going from Srivaikuntam towards Kanniyakumari, on Monday, and arrested them.
Based on the information provided by them, M. Murugesan, 29, of Alankulam and P. Thangapandi, 30, of Thimmarajapuram were arrested. The police recovered around 98 sovereigns of gold jewellery from them.
The accused reportedly told the investigators that they identified the location of the school of the victim’s child from the name displayed on the child’s school bag in a video, which helped them locate the house. Further investigation is under way.
