Delegation from Ghana visits crime records bureau in T.N. to study digital policing initiatives

Ghana’s Interior Minister Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka led a high-level delegation to the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) in Chennai on Monday to study the Tamil Nadu Police’s information technology and digital policing initiatives.

The delegation was briefed on the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) 2.0, a major component of the State’s digital policing infrastructure. Tamil Nadu is among the first States in the country to implement CCTNS 2.0, which has been rolled out across 2,106 police stations and special units.

The briefing was held under the guidance of the DGP and Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, in the presence of ADGP (Law and Order) T.S. Anbu and IGP, SCRB, Sonal Chandra. The Ghana delegation was given presentations on several digital policing and criminal justice initiatives, including ICJS 2.0, NAFIS, Smart Kavalar, facial recognition software, and the digital fingerprint collection system.

Officials also highlighted the ISG Asia Pacific Paragon Award 2026, presented in Singapore to the Tamil Nadu Police and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the system integrator for CCTNS 2.0, in recognition of their digital transformation efforts under the innovation category.

The visit provided the Ghana delegation an opportunity to understand the technological architecture, implementation experience, and operational practices adopted by the Tamil Nadu Police in digital policing, an official said.
