U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday (September 14, 2026) he was open to holding talks with Iran, after weeks of saying it was too early to make a deal with Tehran to end the war in West Asia.
“The failing Nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly. I will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will choose to engage – The concept of which we are open to,” Mr. Trump said on his Truth Social network.
Mr. Trump reiterated on Sunday (September 13, 2026) that he expected the Iran war to end this year, possibly just after midterm elections due in the United States in November, resulting in a drop in oil prices.
“Iran will end right after – maybe before – but it’ll end right after the midterms. Gasoline’s going to drop like a rock,” Mr. Trump said.
