The Mumbai Police have deployed more than 16,800 police personnel across the city as part of extensive security arrangements for Ganeshotsav 2026, with additional forces and specialised units being positioned at key locations and for idol immersion days.
According to Mumbai Police, the deployment includes seven Additional Commissioners of Police, 37 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 52 Assistant Commissioners of Police, around 2,650 officers and 14,150 policemen.

State Reserve Police Force platoons, Quick Response Teams, Riot Control Teams and Home Guards have also been deployed at important and sensitive locations across Mumbai as part of the festival security plan.
Police said separate arrangements have been drawn up for Ganesh idol immersion, as large crowds are expected at major immersion points across the city. Additional personnel will be deployed on immersion days to manage crowds, traffic and law-and-order requirements.
Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to remain calm and cooperate with personnel at crowded locations. People have also been asked to immediately alert police if they notice any unattended or suspicious object.
Citizens requiring immediate police assistance can contact the emergency helplines 100 or 112.
