Youth runs mini truck over father following land dispute

Youth runs mini truck over father following land dispute

Posted on August 18, 2026 By admin

A 50-year-old man was allegedly killed by his son, who ran a mini-truck over him following a dispute over land at Mannur near Sriperumbudur on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Sathya, 50, of Ramji Street. He lived with his wife and four children. His second son, Munusamy, 25, who lives separately with his wife, had reportedly been quarrelling with his father for the past few months, demanding either a share of the family land or money to purchase a house.

According to the police, Munusamy arrived at his parents’ house in a mini-truck and picked an argument with Sathya over the issue. The argument soon escalated into a physical altercation between Munusamy and his younger brother, Satheesh.

The police said Munusamy, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, drove the mini truck towards Satheesh. Sathya intervened and pushed his younger son aside but was struck and run over by the vehicle. Munusamy allegedly drove for about 300 metres after which he abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.

Sathya sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Tiruvallur Government Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Sriperumbudur police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem. A search is on for Munusamy.
