Heavy rains caused landslips on the road to Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Dargah in Chikkamagaluru taluk.

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Chikkamagaluru district on Friday, triggering landslips in the Chandradrona hill ranges and uprooting trees and electric poles in Kalasa taluk.
Landslips were reported on the Ghat Road to the Sri Guru Dattatreya Bababudan Swamy Dargah in Chikkamagaluru taluk, affecting the movement of vehicles. Heavy rainfall was also reported from parts of Sringeri, N.R. Pura, Koppa, Mudigere and Kalasa taluks.
In another rain-related incident, a tree fell on an electricity line at Kelabailu near Kalasa, uprooting an electric pole. Three cattle were electrocuted after coming into contact with the live wire.
An alert truck driver passing through the area informed Mescom officials, following which the power supply was immediately disconnected to prevent further accidents. Officials of Mescom and the Kalasa police visited the spot.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Chikkamagaluru district recorded an average rainfall of 11 mm in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Friday. Sringeri taluk received the highest rainfall at 59 mm, followed by Kalasa (46 mm), Mudigere (18 mm), N.R. Pura (12 mm), Chikkamagaluru (4 mm) and Ajjampura (1 mm).
