One-day scientific conference held at Cancer Institute (WIA)

Posted on July 30, 2026 By admin

The Department of Onco Physiotherapy at the Cancer Institute (WIA) organised “REGAIN 2026 – Head and Neck Cancer Rehabilitation”, a one-day scientific conference, on July 30 as a part of the birth centenary celebrations of oncologist V. Shanta and in commemoration of World Head and Neck Cancer Day.

According to a press release, the event also paid tribute to the birth anniversary of Muthulakshmi Reddy, India’s first woman medical doctor and founder of the Cancer Institute (WIA). Arvind Krishnamurthy, the institute’s Deputy Medical Director, inaugurated the conference in which around 210 delegates from across the country participated. It featured nearly 25 scientific deliberations by experts, covering recent advances in multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients with head and neck cancer.

Institute’s Vice Chairman E. Hemanth Raj; Associate Director R. Swaminathan; head of the Department of Onco Physiotherapy S. Vijay; and Chief Physiotherapist and Scientist D M.S. Satish took part, the release said.
