U.S. firm Sonatype to add 100 seats in Hyderabad

Posted on July 28, 2026 By admin

U.S. firm Sonatype is expanding its Artificial Intelligence-focused global capability centre in Hyderabad by by adding office space for about 100 more employees.

The company is increasing its investment in the India ecosystem and its Hyderabad innovation centre, Sonatype senior director of technology and India country head Abhishek Chauhan said. He added the lease agreement for the additional office space has already been signed.

“We are on the path of expansion and expect to get the additional space in the next few weeks,” he said. Sonatype, which chose Hyderabad for its India centre, opened the facility last year with plans to initially employ around 50 engineers. The company ended the year with nearly 80 engineers, and the workforce has since grown to more than 150.

Hiring for the new 100-seat facility is expected to be completed over the next 12-18 months, with a focus on professionals in software engineering, data engineering and security research.

Mr. Chauhan was speaking after Sonatype and research and advisory firm Forrester released findings from their study on how AI is reshaping software supply chain risks in the financial services sector.

Based on an analysis of more than 9,700 malicious package advisories between January 2020 and May 2026, along with enterprise telemetry from the financial services industry, the study found a significant shift in attacker behaviour. Rather than relying on large-scale attacks, threat actors are increasingly using targeted campaigns that impersonate trusted software, influence developers’ component-selection decisions and exploit vulnerabilities before code reaches production.

The findings are particularly relevant for India, a hub for software development, fintech, digital engineering and global capability centres. As enterprises expand the use of open-source software, third-party components and AI-assisted development, stronger governance of software entering the development lifecycle is becoming a business priority, Sonatype said.
