A 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her maternal uncle and two relatives in Keesara.
According to an officer from the Keesara police station, after the girl’s parents had passed away, she had been living with her grandmother and other relatives. “The perpetrators are daily wage labourers and are addicted to alcohol,” said the officer.
The police said the girl was sexually assaulted by her maternal uncle and two other relatives on different occasions over the last few weeks. The trio allegedly threatened the victim against disclosing about it to anyone.
The incident surfaced after the victim informed about the sexual assault during a conversation with her school management. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the Keesara police.
A case was booked, and one of the suspects was taken into custody, while efforts are underway to trace the other two.
