Intensify area domination and night domination to deter anti-national elements and maintain a strong police presence, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat said on Friday (July 25, 2026).
Chairing a security review meeting at the Police Control Room, Kashmir, “to assess the prevailing security scenario and other emerging challenges across the Union Territory” in the wake of the terrorist attack at Anantnag, DGP Prabhat passed fresh directions to the top officers in Kashmir.
A police spokesman said DGP Prabhat directed the officers to intensify area domination and night domination, particularly in vulnerable and urban areas, to deter anti-national elements and maintain a strong police presence.
He called for strengthening the security grid around critical infrastructure, “while reinforcing intelligence collection and coordination among all security and intelligence agencies”.
Reviewing the counter-terrorism framework, the DGP instructed officers to intensify intelligence-led operations to identify, track and neutralize residual terror networks.
“The importance of close coordination among all stakeholders to facilitate swift operational responses and effectively counter any attempt to disturb public order or undermine the security environment,” said DGP Prabhat.
Highlighting the critical role of reliable communication in policing, the DGP underlined the need to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication connectivity and resilient communication networks across all police formations.
The spokesman said the DGP underlined the need “for heightened situational awareness across all formations”, while directing officers to maintain continuous oversight of weather-related preparedness.
The spokesman said officers presented a comprehensive assessment of the prevailing security scenario across the Union Territory, including the current operational environment, threat perception and preparedness of field formations.
One policeman was killed in Anantnag two days ago in a terror attack. The policeman was shot dead from a close range by an unidentified terrorist.
