Policeman who created ruckus at government hospital arrested, suspended

Posted on July 24, 2026 By admin

Dindigul Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar on Friday ordered the suspension of a police constable attached to Kodaikanal police station, Thangapandi, who had created a ruckus at the government hospital in Kodaikanal.

It is said that Thangapandi visited the government hospital for treatment when he was off-duty. He was in civil dress. Following an altercation at the hospital with a nurse, the policeman created a ruckus at the place. He alleged that the nurse had addressed him in a disrespectful manner. It is said that he was under the influence of alcohol.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS at Kodaikanal police station. Thangapandi was arrested and remanded in judicial custody. It is said that an appropriate departmental inquiry will be initiated and necessary action will be taken against the policeman.
