Three persons were arrested and illicitly produced wine and liquor were seized during multiple raids conducted by Excise officials across Telangana as part of a crackdown on unauthorised alcohol production, sale and transportation.

Acting on information that wine was being produced without permission by Anglo-Indians in the Mettuguda and Tarnaka areas, the Secunderabad Excise officials, along with the District Task Force (DTF) team, conducted raids at two locations.

During the raids, officials seized 25 bottles of wine from a house and arrested an accused, identified as Antony, in connection with the case. In a separate operation near RTC Hospital in Tarnaka, the team seized 20 litres of wine and arrested two persons, Venu and Prakash.

The total value of the seized wine was estimated at ₹50,000. The accused and the seized material were handed over to the Secunderabad Excise Station for further legal action.

Meanwhile, officials continued raids against illicitly distilled (ID) liquor manufacturing units and suppliers across several districts of Telangana.

In Warangal Rural excise station limits, officials seized 53 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed 1,250 litres of jaggery wash used for brewing. Raids in Palakurthi of Jangaon district resulted in the seizure of 3.5 litres of illicit liquor, while 5 litres were seized in Kollapur of Nagarkurnool district.

Officials also seized 16 litres during raids in the Luxettipet and Chennur areas of Mancherial district, along with 13.5 litres in Mahabubnagar, 71 litres in Bhupalpally and 6 litres in Siddipet.

Cases have been registered against several individuals involved in the illegal manufacture and possession of liquor, and further investigations are underway.
