A coalition of civil society organisations on Monday (July 6) announced the formation of ‘Voter’s Vigilance Committees’ across Karnataka, from the State level to individual polling booths, to assist voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and monitor the implementation of the exercise.
The groups said that the committees will collect daily reports on problems faced by voters during the SIR process and bring them to the attention of officials, while assisting people in completing the registration process. The committee will also press the State government to convene special Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas to safeguard eligible voters.
The coalition said training workshops for volunteers will be held from July 8 to July 15 at the State, district and booth levels.
