The Panangad police have arrested Mithun Prakash, a 34-year-old history-sheeter from Panangad, on the charge of attempting to sexually assault a woman passenger who boarded his autorickshaw in Vyttila.
A former private bus employee, he allegedly deviated from the route and tried to take her to a secluded plot. He reportedly allowed her to get down after she raised an alarm.

The Ernakulam Central police arrested Anston Shaji, 23, a former student of Maharaja’s College, for allegedly attempting to steal beds from the college hostel using a mini lorry. He allegedly tried to convince the watchman that he was taking the beds away for anti-bug treatment. An investigation is under way.
