Man arrested for sexually harassing woman in Choolaimedu

Lokesh Raj, 42, was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman while she was walking to her hostel in Choolaimedu.

According to the police, the woman, a native of Andhra Pradesh, works at a private company in Chennai. On Monday evening, when she was returning to her hostel after work, Lokesh intercepted her. When he realised that she could not understand what he was saying, he verbally abused and sexually harassed her. The woman managed to escape and lodge a complaint at Choolaimedu Police Station.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused, who is a resident of 2nd Street, Thiruvalluvarpuram, Choolaimedu, on Tuesday. He was employed as a supervisor at a commercial establishment, the police said. Following interrogation, the accused was remanded in judicial custody.
