Orleanpet MLA stages protest over drinking water problem

Orleanpet MLA stages protest over drinking water problem

Posted on July 1, 2026 By admin

Orleanpet legislator and founder of Neyam Makkal Kazhagam G. Nehru alias Couppoussamy on Wednesday staged a protest on the portico of the Legislative Assembly to highlight disruption of drinking water supply in his constituency.

Drinking water supply to certain parts in the town was disrupted after a pipeline got damaged during a work to lay gas pipeline. Though the Public Works Department repaired the damaged pipeline, Mr. Nehru complained that several residential areas in Orleanpet continued to face water shortage. He told media that the government was not functioning as Ministers were yet to get portfolios. He withdrew the protest after Pro-tem Speaker A. Anbalagan spoke to him.
