The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute – Tiruchi Agri Business Incubation Forum (EDII-TABIF), functioning at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute in Tiruchi, will conduct a couple of specialised programmes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainable agriculture, and food sector development.
The first programme will be a day-long workshop on ‘Next-generation food packaging,’ to be held on June 19. It will focus on emerging trends and innovations in food packaging, sustainable and biodegradable packaging materials, smart and active packaging technologies, food safety and regulatory compliance, packaging machinery, automation, and cost-effective packaging solutions.
The workshop will be followed by a training on ‘Paddy straw mushroom (volvariella) cultivation”, on June 23. The training is designed to provide practical knowledge on paddy straw mushroom cultivation using low-cost technologies. Participants will learn about mushroom production techniques, substrate preparation, crop management, harvesting, value addition, and marketing opportunities.
Paddy straw mushroom cultivation is recognised as a short-duration, eco-friendly enterprise with significant
income-generation potential, making it suitable for farmers, women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, rural youth and agripreneurs, an official release said.
