Dindigul District Administration has urged the public to avail mobile veterinary ambulance services provided by the government to treat animals. Emergency calls could be made to the toll free number 1962.
According to a press release, the services were operated under the aegis of Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. These vehicles operate everyday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. One emergency veterinary ambulance was stationed in Dindigul city and eight mobile veterinary ambulances were stationed in Natham, Reddiarchatram, Athoor, Pallanatham, Ayakudi, Thandikudi, Mannavanur and Oddanchatram.
The vehicles visit three villages every day to conduct camps and provide veterinary treatment. In each village, a vehicle is stationed at a designated location to provide services. After 2 p.m., the livestock owners can utilise the emergency veterinary service and till 5 p.m. if emergency calls were received from anywhere within the district, the emergency vehicles would be dispatched to the location to carry out emergency treatment.
Livestock owners can contact the toll free helpline number 1962 to avail emergency veterinary services. At the camps, with the exception of Artificial Insemination procedures, all the other veterinary services are provided free of cost. The services include general medical treatment, deworming, minor surgeries, infertility treatment, vaccination, technical advice, information regarding government schemes, assistance to apply for Kisan Credit Card and guidance on establishing livestock farms.
