At least eight persons were rescued after a multi-storeyed building collapsed in Saket on Saturday (May 30, 2026) evening.

The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials received a call at 7.45 p.m. Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, officials said. The residents had already rescued three persons before the arrival of the DFS team.

“The building, located at Saidulajab near Saket metro station, had ground plus three upper floors. The third floor was under construction. It is not clear whether the building was privately owned or a government building,” a DFS official said.

Several people are feared to be trapped under debris after a multi-storey building collapsed in the Saket area in South Delhi on Saturday evening, officials said. The incident took place on Western Marg in Saidulajab near Saket Metro station.

According to DFS, the building fell on an adjacent tin shed canteen where a few children were having dinner and were reportedly trapped under the debris.

The police, District Disaster Management Authority, National Disaster Response Force, and ambulances have been deployed on site to carry out rescue and relief operations, officials added.

Loud Noise

Locals described hearing a sound resembling a “generator blast” just moments before the building collapsed, creating panic as dust billowed across the area. Several people are feared to be trapped under the debris. The entire multi-storey structure was flattened into a mound of rubble, officials said.

Every effort being made to rescue those trapped, says Delhi CM

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that every possible effort is being made to safely rescue those trapped in the building collapse near Saket Metro Station.

Expressing her concern about the incident, Ms. Gupta stated that the situation is being closely monitored. “Teams from NDRF, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, DDMA, MCD, CATS and Civil Defence are carrying out rescue operations on a war footing,” Gupta said in a post on X.
