A fire broke out in the parking area of a residential building in Shahdara’s Mansarovar Park shortly after midnight on Sunday, leaving nine residents with breathing difficulties.
Police said the fire was reported at 12.05 a.m. on the intervening night of May 16 and 17. The Delhi Fire Services brought the blaze under control within 35 minutes.
The fire originated in a water motor after a short circuit and spread to domestic articles stored in the ground-floor parking area of the four-storey building, police said.
Nine residents — five women, three men and a girl — were rescued and taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital for observation after complaining of breathing problems. They were later discharged.
“No casualties or burn injuries were reported,” said a police officer.
