6,4,6,6,6: Rishabh Pant Last Over Rampage for DC vs GT Lights Up IPL 2024 Amid T20 World Cup Race

IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant in action for DC vs GT© AFP

Any discussion on the IPL 2024, these days, is almost always followed by whether any particular player is good enough for the T20 World Cup 2024 or not. The T20 World Cup will follow the IPL 2024 and the Indian cricket team for the marquee event will be announced in a week. There is a stiff competition all the the slots but going by form, it seems Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has all but sealed his spot as the no. 1 wicketkeeper-batter.

After recovering from injury sustained in a car crash, Pant has been astute behind the stumps while being fairly consistent with his batting, But what he did against Gujarat Titans’ Mohit Sharma in the last over was just awesome. DC started the last over on 193/4 and finished it on 224/4, all thanks to Pant’s fiery batting. He hit 6,4,6,6,6 off the last five balls as GT looked shell shocked. The DC player was unbeaten on 88* off 43 balls.

Talking about the game, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel scored contrasting fifties to power Delhi Capitals to 224 for 4 against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday. After medium pacer Sandeep Warrier (3/15) ran through the top three, Axar (66 off 43 balls) and Pant (88 not out of 43 balls) stitched a 113-run partnership to steady the innings.

Skipper Pant was in his element scoring as many as eight maximums and five fours. Tristan Stubbs blazed away to 26 off 7 balls.

Brief Score: Delhi Capitals: 224 for 4 in 20 overs (Rishabh Pant 88 not out, Axar Patel 66; Sandeep Warrier 3/15).
