“200+ Was Possible”: Did Rajasthan Royals Troll Virat Kohli And RCB? Fans Think So

Despite witnessing Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 113, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans saw their team taste another defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign. The match saw two centuries being scored on the occasion, with Rajasthan Royals opener Jos Buttler bringing up his triple-digit score, overpowering Kohli’s hundred. It was arguably the difference in the pace with which the two hundreds were scored that turned out to be the difference-maker. In fact, even Rajasthan Royals admitted after the match that a 200+ first innings total was possible on the wicket, but RCB could only score 183.

The post, shared by Rajasthan on social media, has been seen by many as the franchise’s attempt to troll Virat Kohli and his team. Here’s the post:

After the game, Kohli said that the pitch looked like flat surface but it wasn’t one. Hence, he found it difficult to accelerate.

“The wicket feels like its flat but as soon as you see the ball holding up in the pitch, that’s when you realise the pace is changing pretty quickly and then the big dimensions of the ground come into play. Our target initially was 190, 195, to be honest. But then assessing the pitch and how it was slowing down, we decided if one of Faf [du Plessis] or me get out, then the other had to bat till the end so that we can get that boost closer to 180-185, which we did, which I feel is a very effective total on this pitch,” Virat said during the mid-innings chat.

With the win against RCB, RR have gone top of the points table.
