Virtual Reality Meets Mythology At Maha Kumbh With Unique VR Zone

Posted on January 15, 2025 By admin

Mahakumbh Nagar:

In line with the government’s vision to transform this year’s Maha Kumbh into a “Digital Kumbh”, a virtual reality (VR) zone was set up at a camp in the Mela area on Wednesday.

Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan inaugurated its camp that houses the VR zone during the day. The camp is located across a sprawling nine-acre area in Sector 9 of the Mahakumbh Nagar.

“Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the Maha Kumbh and mythological stories through advanced 3D and VFX technology,” the organisation’s spokesperson Sadhvi Tapeshwari Bharti said.

The organisation has also planned a series of spiritual and cultural programmes across 33 days, expecting a massive turnout.

“We are expecting more than 20 lakh visitors from India and abroad this time, surpassing the 17 lakh visitors recorded during the last Kumbh,” Tapeshwari Bharti added.

A virtual reality zone is an interactive digital space where users experience computer-generated environments through devices like VR headsets. It immerses visitors in realistic visuals, sounds and sometimes touch, simulating a physical presence.

At the VR zone in the Maha Kumbh, mythological or cultural themes are recreated using 3D and VFX technology. Visitors can virtually explore ancient rituals or significant events, offering an engaging and educational experience.

Prominent personalities, including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, MP and actor Ravi Kishan, BJP leader Anurag Thakur, and Padma Shri awardee singer Malini Awasthi, are scheduled to participate in these events, she claimed.

The spokesperson emphasised the camp’s environmentally sustainable design, saying, “We have ensured zero use of plastic in setting up this camp. Instead, we have used eco-friendly materials such as jute, bamboo, clay, palm leaves and hogla grass.”
