Deepinder Goyal Invites Former Zomato Employees To Rejoin

Posted on February 4, 2026 By admin

Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato, on Tuesday publicly invited former employees to consider returning to the company, stating that the “door is not closed” and that their experience remains deeply valued.

In a post on the social media platform X, Goyal, addressing former employees, acknowledged that Zomato’s earlier environment and leadership may not have met everyone’s expectations at the time. However, he emphasised that many who left still remember the company as a unique workplace.

“If you used to work at Zomato, whether you chose to move on, or I was the one who asked you to leave, this is for you. I know that for many of you, Zomato didn’t have the environment or the leadership you needed at the time. But I know for sure, that you loved being at Zomato, and it is quite possible that you never felt like home anywhere else since you left,” Goyal said.

Goyal even acknowledged past leadership shortcomings and sought to quell fears of closed doors or grudges if any of the old employees have. “If you haven’t reached out because you think the door is closed, or because you think I’m holding onto the past, I’m not. I want you back,” he added.

Goyal listed the broader ecosystem under Eternal that now encompasses a wide range of businesses, including Zomato, Blinkit, Blinkit Ambulances, District, Hyperpure, Nugget, and Feeding India and said these companies require people who already understand the culture and are willing to “fight for what good looks like” within Eternal.

“We need people who already know what good looks like here, and who care enough to fight for it. There is no better person for that than someone who has been here, left, grown, and wants to come back,” said the Zomato Founder.

Anticipating concerns that Eternal may feel different now that he is no longer CEO, Goyal dismissed the idea that his title ever mattered. “I am still very much here, and I’d love for you to be a part of this next phase of Eternal,” he wrote.

Encouraging those who may feel hesitant or unsure, Goyal urged former employees to reconnect directly. “If you feel like you have unfinished business here, please don’t overthink it. Write to me at back@eternal.com,” he said, adding with characteristic humour that ‘the Gurgaon pollution is still a bug, but being at Eternal is the feature.'”

He concluded the post by expressing a willingness to help returning employees find roles that fit their current lives and ambitions. “Let’s talk and find a role that fits your life as it is today,” Goyal concluded.

Goyal, in a letter to shareholders, had said he is stepping down to pursue new ideas that involve a ‘significantly higher-risk exploration’ and will transition to the role of Vice Chairman.
