Game consoles were once banned in China. China relaxed its ban on China-Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo games consoles in 2014.
These game consoles are available on “gray market”. The ban has led to an increase in the popularity of PC and mobile games. During the more than ten-year ban, Chinese developers, such as giants Tencent and NetEase, worked to create popular games for these platforms.
Now things are changing. Chinese tech giants and next-generation game developers are looking to capitalize on the growth of Chinese electronic game consoles and target foreign gamers who have grown up with these devices.
