Former India cricketer Yograj Singh left everyone utterly shocked after he shared an unheard tale of an incident with Kapil Dev. In a recent podcast with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia, Yograj revealed that he had threatened India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain with a gun after Kapil dropped him from the domestic team “for no reason”. Yograj, who is the father of the legendary India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, is widely known for his blunt takes and unfiltered opinions on various topics.

Talking about the incident, Yograj revealed that he went to the former India captain’s house with his pistol but changed his mind, showing mercy on latter’s mother. Yograj also said that he abused Kapil.

As Yograj’s interview with Samdish made headlines, Kapil was recently asked about the incident and the former India skipper won everyone’s heart with his stunning response.

Responding to a journalist’s question on the same topic, Kapil refused to recognize Yograj and said, “Kon? Kiski baat kar rahe ho? (Who? Whom are you talking about?).”

The journalist quickly responded by stating that Yograj is Yuvraj Singh’s father. To this, Kapil said, “Accha, vo. Aur kuch? (Ohh, him. Anything else?).”

Yograj had stated that his wife wanted to ask some questions to Kapil after he snubbed her husband from the domestic team.

“My wife (Yuvi’s mother) wanted me to ask Kapil questions. I told her that I would teach this bloody man a lesson. I took my pistol out, I went to Kapil’s house in Sector 9. He came out with his mother. I abused him a dozen times. I told him because of you I have lost a friend and what you have done, you will pay for it,” Yograj said on YouTube channel ‘Unfiltered by Samdish

“I told him, ‘I want to put a bullet through your head, but I am not doing it because you have a very pious mother, who is standing here.’ I told Shabnam, ‘Let’s go.’

Yograj Singh, the father of one of India’s finest cricketers Yuvraj Singh, has often triggered controversies with his debate-stirring remarks. In a podcast, Yograj made some over-the-top comments while also showcasing his misogynistic mindset. Yograj, a former cricketer himself, said that the Hindi language sounds as if a ‘woman is talking’. For Yograj, while it is fine for women to speak Hindi, men should prefer speaking languages like Punjabi which has a bolder aura to it.

Mujhe to hindi language aise lagti hai jaise koi aurat bol rahi ho (To me, the Hindi language feels like a woman is speaking)” Yograj told the YouTuber.

Jab aurat bolti hai to buhut acha lagta hai, jab mard hindi bolta hai to aisa lagta hai ke kya bol raha hai ye kon aadmi hai. Mujhe wo difference lagta hai (When a woman speaks Hindi, it sounds really pleasant, but when a man speaks Hindi, it feels like, ‘What is he saying? Who is this person?’ I sense that difference)” the former cricketer, known for making provocative statements, said.

He also claimed that women shouldn’t be made the head of households as they ‘destroy it’. “Wife will destroy your house if you give her power. Sorry to say, Indira Gandhi ran this country and destroyed it. Give them respect and love, but never give them power,” Yograj said.

The comments made by Yograj didn’t go down well with social media users, who slammed him for the sexist remarks. Here are some of the reactions:

During the podcast, Yograj also claimed that he once went to Kapil Dev‘s house with a gun in his hand and wanted to shoot him.

One of the finest middle-order batters in the history of the game, Yuvraj Singh‘s commitment to Indian cricket remains unparalleled. Despite battling cancer, Yuvraj played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the 2011 World Cup. He was also named the Player of the Series for his exemplary performances over the course of the tournament. It was only after the conclusion of the tournament that Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer. His career with the Indian team never saw the same heights afterwards.

Entire India sings praises of Yuvraj even today for what he did for the country in the 2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 World Cup. His father Yograj Singh, in a podcast, said that he would’ve been proud even if Yuvraj had died during the World Cup as India lifted the title.

“For our country, if Yuvraj Singh had died from cancer and had won India the World Cup, I would have been a proud father. I still am very proud of him. I have told him this over the phone as well. I wanted him to play even when he was spitting blood. I told him, ‘Don’t worry, you won’t die. Win this World Cup for India,'” Yograj said on Unfiltered by Samdish podcast.

While Yuvraj is one of the finest finishers Indian cricket has seen, his father still feels the southpaw couldn’t fulfill the potential he had.

“Yuvraj Singh, if he had worked even 10 percent like his father, he would have become a great cricketer,” Yograj said.

In the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj scored 362 runs at an average of 90.50 and a strike-rate of 86.19, playing a crucial role in the team’s title-winning show. He had a few appearances for India the following years after recovering from lung cancer before hanging up his boots in 2019.

Arjun Tendulkar warmed up for the upcoming first-class season with a match-winning nine-wicket haul in Goa’s innings and 189-run victory over hosts Karnataka in the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, which is also known as KSCA Invitational, a pre-season meet for state teams. KSCA XI comprised mostly their U-19 and U-23 players with only two established names — Nikin Jose and glovesman Sharath Srinivas — in the playing XI.

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar‘s son had a match haul of 9 for 87 in 26.3 overs across two innings. In the first innings, Karnataka folded for 103 in 36.5 overs with Tendulkar junior taking 5/41 in 13 overs.

In reply, Goa posted a solid 413 as Abhinav Tejrana (109) scored a hundred and Manthan Khutkar contributed 69.

In the second innings, KSCA XI were a shade better, being shot out for 121 in 30.4 overs with Arjun grabbing 4 for 46 in 13.3 overs.

Arjun, who will turn 25 next week, has so far played 49 competitive games across three formats at senior level and picked 68 wickets. In 13 first-class games, he has taken 21 wickets.

Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun had earlier trained under former India player Yogra Singh, who is the father of Yuvraj.

“Arjun Tendulkar came to you for training. How do you see his future?” Yograj was asked in an interview.

“Have you seen diamond in a coal mine? Woh Koyla hi hai..nikalo patthar hi hai, kisi tarashgir ke haath me dalo to chamak ke duniya ko kohinoor ban jata hai (It is coal that is rock when taken out from a mine, but if it is given in proper hands, it goes on to become Kohinoor. It is priceless. But if that same diamond reaches a person who does not know its worth, he destroys it. I don’t say it myself that Yograj Singh is a  great character, Yuvraj Singh says it, ‘there is magic in my dad’s hand, he made me what I am.’ Earlier, I was abused ‘Hitler, Dragon Singh, I hate my father’. Everybody hated me in my home. My relatives said, I should not have been a father,” Yograj Singh replied.

“But he walked his path. And by God’s Grace you got Yuvraj Singh.”

Yograj Singh, father of Yuvraj Singh, was considered a great talent during his playing days. Though he could not make it big at the international level as a player, as a coach he trained his son to be world champion. Sachin Tendulkar‘s son Arjun also trained under him. Yograj Singh has an academy, the videos of which can be found on social media. In those videos, Yograj Singh gives a per perception of being a hard task master. Yograj, whose rigorous training of Yuvraj, is a well-known was recently asked about his training academy.

“If anyone wants to join your academy, what mind set should that kid come in with?” Yograj Singh was asked.

“First of all, the fear of death should end. When I was three years old, my dad told my mom that we were going on a tiger hunt. My mom was afraid. My dad said, “If he dies, it won’t make any difference. But I will make him like a tiger’. So that three year kid is sitting with his mother in the jungle of kaladhungi. My father was carrying a rifle and it was a moonlit night. We were sitting on a machaan (elevated platform). And then the tiger came, the kid was about to shout but my mom held his mouth. Then my dad shot the tiger from six feet. Shot dead in the head. He fell like a mountain,” Yograj said in an interview on Switch

“The kid was speechless. My father told my mom to take me down. He then held me and said, “sher ka baccha ghas nahi khata (a tiger cub doesn’t eat grass). That voice went like an echo. He made me sit on the tiger and smeared its blood on my lips and forehead. I still have that photo in my home.

“I think my academy is like that. I have made Yuvraj like that. Fearless.”

Yograj Singh played one Test and six ODIs for India.

Yograj Singh, former cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh, is known to make big statements. Recently, his comments on Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni went viral. “I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life.,” Yograj had said on the Switch YouTube channel. Yuvraj and Dhoni had been teammates for over a decade in India colours, and at one point, Yuvraj had served as vice-captain to Dhoni. However, a point of contention often arises from the fact that Dhoni had been given the captaincy after Rahul Dravid in 2007, despite Yuvraj being the vice-captain to Dravid as well.

Yograj Singh was instrumental in the growth of Yuvraj Singh as a cricketer. He trained him. Sachin Tendulkar‘s son Arjun also trained under him.

Arjun Tendulkar came to you for training. How do you see his future?” the anchor asked in the same interview.

“Have you seen diamond in a coal mine? Yograj Singh, the father of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, often finds a way to make headlines with his explosive comments. Having belittled the legendary MS Dhoni for years, Yograj targeted India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev. Born in 1958, Yograj earned his only Test cap in 1981 and made his ODI debut in 1980. After just 6 ODIs in his career, the last of which came in 1981, Yograj’s stint as an Indian cricketer ended. But, he has had plenty of sharp opinions to share on Indian cricket and its players since retirement. In a video that has surfaced on social media, Yograj used some insulting remarks about Kapil Dev, leaving many cricket lovers on the internet fuming.

“The greatest captain of our time, Kapil Dev… I told him, I’ll leave you in a position where the world would spit on you. Today, Yuvraj Singh has 13 trophies, and you have only one, the World Cup. End of discussion,” Yograj said.

It isn’t just Kapil that Yograj targeted but also Dhoni. Bringing up the age-old topic of Dhoni not doing justice to his son Yuvraj, Yograj said that he will never forget the former India captain.

“I won’t forgive MS Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a very big cricketer, but what he has done against my son, everything is coming out now; it can never be forgiven in life. I have never done two things in life. First, I have never forgiven anybody who has done wrong for me, and second, I have never hugged them in my life, be it my family members or my kids,” Yograj said.

Both Yuvraj and Dhoni are two of the most decorated Indian cricketers, playing crucial roles to the team’s success in ICC events from 2007 to 2013. However, Yuvraj’s final years in Indian cricket weren’t as rewarding as Dhoni’s.

After an unbeaten run in the group stage and the Super 8s, Team India has entered the semi-final of the T20 World Cup. However, the road to the coveted ICC trophy will not be an easy one as they have to face the defending champions England in the semi-finals. This match will trigger many harsh memories for Indian fans as earlier in 2022, Team India lost the semi-finals against England by 10 wickets and missed out on the T20 World Cup title.

Back in 2007, India lifted the inaugural title of T20 World Cup, under the leadership of the legendary MS Dhoni. It was the first time when Dhoni wore the captain’s hat and went on to become India’s successful skipper. However, former India batter Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, has issued a fiery remark against the 42-year-old player.

In a video going viral on social media, Yograj stated that he eagerly wants to see Team India lifting the World Cup trophy, especially when Dhoni is not in the team. He even mentioned that the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma have also issued some statements against the Chennai Super Kings skipper.

“As an Indian, I want India to win. Dhoni nahi hai, phir jeet jayenge (India should win the World Cup now that MS Dhoni is not there). The whole world is saying it. Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma are also saying it,” said Yograj.

He also went on to claim that CSK lost IPL 2024 because of Dhoni’s bad deeds. He also accused Dhoni of being “jealous” of Yuvraj.

“CSK lost IPL 2024. Why did they lose? It’s whatever you sow, so shall you reap. Yuvraj Singh is the ICC Ambassador, hats off to him! And this jealous Dhoni, where is he? He didn’t even shake hands with Yuvraj, and that is the reason why CSK failed this year,” he added.

Talking about Team India, Rohit Sharma and co will take on England in the semi-final match on Thursday in Guyana. Earlier in the day, South Africa will face Afghanistan in the first semi-final match in Trinidad.

Former cricketer Yograj Singh reckons that India will win against Pakistan in their opening game of the Asia Cup 2023 as they are much a better team. The men in Blue will take on Pakistan at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in their Asia Cup 2023 opener on Saturday. Fans from around the world wait with bated breath for the dream India-Pakistan clash. Yet another chapter to this storied rivalry is all set to be added when India takes on Pakistan at the Asia Cup on September 2.

Ahead of the match, Yograj spoke to ANI and said, “If we compare the Indian and Pakistan teams then I think that Team India is much better and it’s difficult to defeat Team India. Our players have been playing professional and competitive Cricket throughout but Pakistan doesn’t have such players…I don’t think that anybody can defeat Team India owing to our team at this point in time.”

Ahead of the much-awaited encounter, there is a positive update for the fans about the clash at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

According to weather.com at 9:09 AM IST, there are fewer chances of rain on Saturday, however, the weather will be cloudy but there is no sign of rainfall. The sky is predicted to be 64 per cent covered with clouds but there is only a 15-19 per cent forecast predicted of a drizzle.

Before the match, India captain Rohit Sharma interacted with the media on Friday where he didn’t shy away from accepting that he was playing “high-risk cricket” in the past and that he needs to bring the “right” balance to his game in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023.

Rohit stated that he must bring balance to his game and carefully assess the circumstances before taking risks because the team requires him to play extended innings.

“I have played a lot of cricket so it’s important to use that experience. Will do what the team requires from me. In the past two years, I have played a different brand of cricket – it was a high-risk cricket when it comes to batting. I need to bring the right balance to my game – when it comes to taking risks,” Rohit said in a pre-match press conference.

On the eve of the clash between the Asian Giants, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam talked about the relationship and the influence Virat has had on him.

“The debate that has been going on should be left to them. I don’t want to comment on it. Everybody has their point of view. There should be mutual respect. I have been taught that we should respect our seniors. I have learned a lot from him. I have said in a lot of interviews that in 2019 I talked to him and he helped me a lot. He has been helpful,” Babar said in the pre-match conference.

Indian Squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
