Mathura, UP:

The Mathura Police, in its regular checking on Yamuna Expressway recovered 12.5 kilograms of gold from a car, officials said.

The recovery was made on Tuesday when the police stopped a car for checking at Mant toll.

Trigun Vishen, Superintendent of Police (SP), Rural Mathura told ANI, “At Mant toll when checking was being done, around 12.5 kg gold was recovered from a car. They said that they brought the gold from Delhi and were traveling towards Deoria. They could not show any paper, therefore, GST and & IT departments were told about it. Action is being taken. The arrested youths are one from Uttar Pradesh and one from Bihar.”

Meanwhile, a large cache of illegal firecrackers was seized in two separate raids in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad ahead of Diwali, police said on Tuesday.

According to officials, the first raid was conducted by Indirapuram police in Makanpur village.

A police team raided a shop in the Hanuman temple area of the village, where 63 cartons of illegal firecrackers, along with one plastic bag were sized. A 26-year-old man was arrested for allegedly selling and supplying illegal firecrackers.

A case has been registered against the accused, identified as Majid, a resident of Sector 12, Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, and the police are further investigating the matter.

In another case, the police raided a kite shop in Delhi Gate area of Ghaziabad and seized a large cache of illegal firecrackers.

According to officials, the raid was conducted at a kite shop in Navyug Market based on a complaint regarding the illegal supply and sale of firecrackers from the shop.

ACP Ritesh Tripathi said that a large quantity of firecrackers was seized during the raid. The shopkeeper, however, managed to flee before the police team arrived at the scene.”

A team has been formed to nab the shopkeeper,” the ACP added.

Agra:

Four children drowned while taking a bath in Agra in a pond on Sunday morning, as five others who attempted to save them had to be rescued by police and locals, officials said.

The incident occurred near the Yamuna Expressway under the Khandauli Police Station limits in Agra district. All four children were around 10-12 years of age, they said.

The children were identified as Hina, Khushi, Chandani and Riya.

Police said the five people who made a failed attempt to rescue them included four other kids and a woman. They were also drowning before being rescued by police and locals. They are currently receiving treatment at a hospital, police added.

“The incident was reported was to us around 10:30 am, Etmadpur Assistant Commissioner of Police Sukanya Sharma told PTI.

“The families (of the dead kids) are from Auraiya and Kanpur but have been living here for some time,” the ACP said, adding that they earn their living by selling small items in nearby villages.

Of the nine people who were in the pond, five were rescued and sent to a hospital and the bodies of the dead children were sent for post-mortem examination, police said.

Yamuna Expressway will be closed for heavy vehicles due to MotoGP and trade fair.

The Noida traffic police has made elaborate arrangements keeping in view the international trade fair and MotoGP events scheduled to take place this week. In a traffic advisory, it said that entry of heavy commercial as well as non-commercial vehicles will be banned on Noida-Greater Expressway, which merges into the Yamuna Expressway for an onwards journey towards Agra. The restrictions will be in place from 5am on September 21 to 23.59pm on September 25. The traffic police has given a list of alternate roads and transport services like Metro to ensure smooth journey for daily commuters.

While the international trade fair will be organised at the Expo Mart in Greater Noida from September 21-25, Moto GP will be held at Buddh International Circuit from September 22-24.

Nearly 10,000 foreign delegates and other high-profile guests are expected to attend these events.

To keep the traffic movement smooth, heavy vehicles will not be allowed on DND Flyway, Chilla Road, Kalindi Kunj, New Ashok Nagar and Jhundpura borders, the traffic advisory said.

Buses, heavy vehicles as well as non-commercial vehicles will also be kept off the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway. Only vehicles carrying goods marked under essential services like milk, vegetables, medicines etc will be allowed. There will be restrictions near Pari Chowk too.

The traffic police said that heavy transport vehicles can use national highways 9, 24 and 91 to commute from Delhi to Noida and Ghaziabad, Meerut, Agra and Lucknow during this period.

The traffic police has advised people to use Metro to commute. It has also released helpline numbers 9971009001 and 9355057381 for the convenience of people.

The Noida Police has also imposed prohibitory order in the district under Section 144 of the CrPC till September 25, which prohibits any “unlawful assembly”.
