The Telangana BJP will take the Congress government’s alleged failures and anti-people policies to the public during the upcoming Graduate MLC and Municipal Corporation elections, party official spokesperson N.V. Subash said on Wednesday.

Asserting that Telangana would receive effective governance only under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he accused the Congress government of ‘severely deceiving’ the people, who he said had already suffered during the BRS’s 10-year rule.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s State office here, Mr. Subash alleged that even after 30 months in power, the Revanth Reddy government had failed to fulfil its election promises. He claimed that unemployed youth and students had been particularly affected due to the non-release of ₹14,000 crore in fee reimbursement dues, the absence of a job calendar and colleges allegedly withholding certificates, causing hardship to nearly 22 lakh students and their parents.

“It is extremely unfortunate that a government that ought to safeguard the future of students described them as ‘criminal waste’,” he said. Mr. Subash further alleged that the government remained unmoved despite High Court orders directing it to release fee reimbursement funds.

Alleging that the government had failed to focus on the development of the State and Hyderabad, he claimed that the Chief Minister had turned Telangana into a ‘futureless city’. Questioning Mr. Revanth Reddy’s frequent foreign visits, he challenged the government to release a White Paper detailing the investments brought into the State.

A coalition of civil society organisations on Monday (July 6) announced the formation of ‘Voter’s Vigilance Committees’ across Karnataka, from the State level to individual polling booths, to assist voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and monitor the implementation of the exercise.

The groups said that the committees will collect daily reports on problems faced by voters during the SIR process and bring them to the attention of officials, while assisting people in completing the registration process. The committee will also press the State government to convene special Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas to safeguard eligible voters.

The coalition said training workshops for volunteers will be held from July 8 to July 15 at the State, district and booth levels.
