As the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, an employee of social media platform X has shared a message from her mother for none other than Elon Musk. The message? Elon Musk is her “hero”.

Noémi shared the screenshot on X and mentioned Mr Musk in her post. “Your boss, EM is a hero,” read the text in the screenshot. The caption read, “From: mom to: @elonmusk Happy Valentine’s Day.” The employee also added a red heart emoji to the caption.

The Tesla CEO reacted to the post with a heart emoticon, prompting innumerable positive reactions from people on the platform.

Take a look at the post here:

The post went viral, with many praising the billionaire entrepreneur.

Commenting on the post, a person wrote, “Elon is special.”

Another said, “Elon, you’re a hero to humanity, leading with heart and vision. Thank you.”

“Yes he is. How awesome it would be to work for him,” remarked another person.

“My beloved @elonmusk, I have witnessed a sight beyond compare. I beheld until all their thrones were cast down, and you, the ‘Ancient of Days,’ took your rightful seat,” another added.

The cute moment on X came days after Mr Musk’s four-year-old son stole the show during a White House Press briefing. Standing beside US President Donald Trump, Mr Musk fielded questions from the media, while the toddler appeared to mimic his father. The billionaire laughed and suggested the kid stay quiet.

Earlier, President Trump introduced the kid saying his name was X, adding he was a “high IX individual”.

On Thursday, Mr Musk met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Blair House in Washington DC. The tech tycoon was accompanied by his partner and director of Neuralink, Shivon Zilis, and his three children.

During their “very good” meeting, Mr Musk and PM Modi discussed space, mobility, technology and innovation.

New Delhi:

A notebook, featuring cricketer Virat Kohli, has been compared to Christopher Nolan’s iconic film ‘Inception’. A picture of the stationary item with the former Indian cricketer on its cover was shared on Twitter with a witty caption: “Virat Kohli on a notebook holding a notebook with Virat Kohli on it holding a notebook with Virat Kohli on it.”

Delivery app Blinkit was quick to draw a parallel between the notebook and Mr Nolan’s 2010 film, writing, “INKception”.

‘Inception’ was about a dream within a dream that continues in a loop.

Several other internet users gave their own spin to the viral photograph. One user wrote, “Kohliyaapa ho gaya.”

Another added, “Inception level of advertising.”

“Multiverse of Kohli,” read a comment.

Blinkit often indulges in social media banter with other brands. Last year, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, food delivery giant Zomato shared a lighthearted message for Blinkit, the delivery company it acquired in 2022. In a post on its official X page, Zomato affectionately referred to Blinkit as its “adopted sis”, accompanied by a kiss emoji.

Blinkit responded in equal measure, correcting Zomato’s terminology. “Adopted nahi acquired hota hai..itna bada hogaya pata nahi kab seekhega,” Blinkit wrote, implying that it was acquired, not adopted, and jokingly asking when Zomato would learn the difference.

Zomato also showered love on its “sister” Blinkit with a reel on Instagram. The reel opened with a man wearing a red Zomato T-shirt being tied a rakhi by a girl dressed in a yellow Blinkit T-shirt. After the rakhi ceremony, the Zomato ‘brother’ hands his Blinkit ‘sister’ a box of sweets, and she feeds him a sweet. But in an amusing turn of events, the Blinkit sister is then edited to transition into a monkey wearing the same yellow outfit.

“Nice edit chote,” Blinkit responded to the video sarcastically.

Zomato officially acquired Blinkit in August 2022 for a deal worth approximately $568 million (Rs 4,447 crore). After the acquisition, Blinkit’s founders, Albinder Dhindsa and Saurabh Kumar, joined Zomato’s management team as part of the acquisition.

A bizarre matrimonial advertisement of a Mumbai-based business family seeking a groom for their daughter has taken social media by storm. Instead of sharing personal information such as height, education, and occupation of the woman, the newspaper advertisement mentioned the family’s “500+ market cap”.

Shared on Reddit, the ad read, “Mumbai-based business family with 500 crore+ market cap looking for a suitable Marwari/Gujarati boy for their daughter’s (28 yrs) marriage.”

Should i apply ?

Typically used to refer to the overall worth of a company’s shares, the phrase “market cap” surprised many and sparked a string of humorous responses online.

A person said, “Lol I never trusted these adverts. Families with 500+ cr net-worth usually have tightly knit elite circles. They don’t need to advertise like this.”

According to some comments, it was a trick to get a groom of similar standing. “The stereotype is real and the Marwari/Gujarati guy they’re looking for their daughter would most likely be loaded without even having to set an income filter,” remarked someone.

Last year, a matrimonial ad of a 26-year-old “investor” from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh went viral for some unique claims. He claimed that he earned Rs 29 lakh per annum, adding his income was “compoundingly increasing” by 54% every year.

The ad highlighted the man’s physical appearance and caste but quickly took an unexpected turn, shifting focus to his financial credentials. The man was said to be active in the Indian stock market and claimed to have a self-discovered and self-taught method of growing his income at an extraordinary rate.

It didn’t stop there. To assure potential matches of the safety and stability of his profession, he also offered to share a PowerPoint presentation detailing his approach to “safe investing,” and how it makes him “financially independent.”

The ad also claimed that a 16-slide presentation would be sent through WhatsApp to anyone interested in learning how his unique method made him financially independent.

A speech-impaired taxi driver in Bengaluru has impressed the internet with his thoughtful and selfless gesture. Rakesh offers his passengers discounted rides to the airport, bottled water, napkins and books to read through the ride.

Rakesh was introduced to the internet via an X post shared by user Sivasubramanium Jayaraman. He wrote, “Took a cab today and realized the driver, Mr. Rakesh, is speech-impaired. He offers airport rides at a discount with water, napkins and books for passengers—a thoughtful gesture even @Uber & @Olacabs don’t provide. I wasn’t on an airport trip, but he still offered me water.”

Praising Rakesh, people on social media wondered why popular ride-hailing apps don’t match his level of service.

The heartwarming post went viral, with many X users lauding Rakesh’s kindness. A person said, “Kudos and respect to Mr. Rakesh. Thanks for sharing his incredible story.’

Another added, “Corporates only seek money value. Other values such as kindness, care and humanness are not in their free offer.”

“Will definitely try to contact him and use his service next time when I am in Bangalore,” read a comment.

Last month, another post about a cab driver went viral on social media. Aaryan Singh Kushwah, a young entrepreneur, took a cab in Mumbai but his journey turned extraordinary when he discovered his driver was a former Olympian.

Parag Patil, the driver and a proud representative of India in international competitions, had won two gold, eleven silver, and three bronze medals in his career. Moved by the meeting, the entrepreneur shared the story on social media, sparking discussions about struggles faced by Indian athletes.

“Each time he has represented India internationally, he has never returned without a medal,” Mr Kushwah said in his post. “Yet he has no sponsors and just enough funds to feed his family, let alone pursue his athletic career.”

The post was also a call to action for anyone who could help sponsor Parag to represent and win for India internationally.

A social media user recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share they had completed their doctorate by presenting the dissertation and acing the “viva with no corrections”. While the news of acquiring a PhD would have been fairly innocuous and not invited much traction, the post instead went viral due to the choice of thesis topic by the OP. Dr Ally Louks, the X user, who claims to be teaching at the University of Cambridge, revealed that her thesis topic was “Olfactory Ethics: The Politics of Smell in Modern and Contemporary Prose”, which instantly grabbed the internet’s attention.

“Thrilled to say I passed my viva with no corrections and am officially PhDone,” Dr Louks captioned the post whilst posing with her dissertation. She also shared the abstract of her research to provide “more context for anyone interested in learning” about her work.

“This thesis studies how literature registers the importance of olfactory discourse-the language of smell and the olfactory imagination it creates in structuring our social world,” read the brief.

“The broad aim of this thesis is to offer an intersectional and wide-ranging study of olfactory oppression by establishing the underlying logics that facilitate smell’s application in creating and subverting gender, class, sexual, racial and species power structures,” it added.

Chapter one of the thesis explored how “smell can be used to indicate class antipathies, partly as they relate to homelessness”, by examining George Orwell’s work as well as other popular media creations.

Internet reacts

As the post went viral, thousands of users descended on Dr Louks’ profile and questioned her for spending time and money, researching a topic that may not have any real-life implications.

“For those of you who can’t translate this academic gobbledygook, let me be your guide: sis literally wrote a PhD thesis on why it’s racist and/or classist to not like it when people stink,” wrote one user, while another added: “How did this dissertation get accepted? It provides nothing of value, and really only sets this woman up to exploit students for their loans…or an email job somewhere.

A third commented: “Tax money well spent. Good luck with the debt.”

While the majority of users criticised the OP for her post, some came to her defence, with one stating: “People are being so mean to this woman for no reason. Some people just want to study books, that’s not a crime.”

“That looks like a super interesting piece of research. I can see people being straight up cruel in replies and quotes and most of them are the usual suspects- racists, misogynists and people who would rather have all education be like trade school,” another added.

As of the last update, the post had garnered 3.2 million views and over 2,000 comments.

The post garnered more than 900 upvotes.

A 17-year-old recently took to social media to share his gratitude for being alive after undergoing a life-threatening surgery at AIIIMS Delhi. Taking to Reddit, Harshit Sharma shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed alongside the discharge summary to substantiate his account. According to the documents, the teenager was diagnosed with kyphoscoliosis, a spinal disorder that causes a hunched back. To address this condition, he underwent a “life-threatening” surgery, which was performed at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.

“I underwent my surgery procedure on 25th October – it was incredibly tough. I was in the ICU for 2 days. Doctors had to transfuse 9 units of blood,” the 17-year-old wrote in the post. He revealed that after the procedure, he was unable to eat for 10 days. “I had 65+ stitches and was in such pain that even multiple painkiller injections couldn’t help. I couldn’t eat for 10 days,” he said. The teenager also shared that he suffered a pre-surgery complication due to a hair removal used on his back. “But I am so glad I am alive,” he said.

“This post is to thank the people who contributed their hard-earned money for me and to address those who doubted me. I am attaching the discharge summary from AIIMS Delhi,” he continued.

Concluding his post, Harshit appealed for financial support, explaining that although he had raised some funds earlier, it was not “even half the money he needed.”

“This is me asking for money one last time, as I couldn’t raise even half the money needed, and my financial condition is not looking very good due to the numerous expenses even after the surgery,” Hashit said.

The 17-year-old shared the post a few days back. Since then, it has garnered more than 900 upvotes. In the comments section, while some users shared names of organisations that fund surgeries, others donated whatever they could to help the teen financially.

“How messed up this system is. Many would prefer dying than to pay these absurd medical bills. We have to do something. We must demand change. Stay strong champ.  Your disease lost, you won,” wrote one user.

According to a Ketto page, Harshit has been battling Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 (SMA II) and severe scoliosis for the past 17 years. “Our immediate concern is the severe scoliosis that Harshit is suffering from. The scoliosis has progressed to the point where it causes him immense pain, significantly impacting his daily life and hindering his studies. Several users praised the post for how it blended humour withthe arrest news.

The Berhampur Police in Odisha arrested four men accused of assaulting a father and son. But when they announced the news on social media, their post took X users on a wild laughter ride. The reason? The police’s creative use of emojis turned a routine announcement into a viral sensation.

The post features a photo of the four accused, but their faces were not covered by the usual pixelation or blurring. They had emojis  —  each telling its own story. A pleading, a disappointed and a frowned emoji superimposed on their faces.

The caption, “Gopalpur Police team arrested four persons for assaulting father and son,” may be straightforward, but the visual twist added a layer of humour that had people cracking up.

Take a look at it here:

Several users praised the post for how it blended humour with the arrest news.

One user wrote, “Unbelievable guys with such emotional faces would assault someone .”

Another user was in two minds about whether to feel disheartened about the crime or to laugh at the police’s witty take.

Another user playfully suggested that if he were ever arrested, the police should use the emoji that depicts a face with sweat and a flushed expression. The emoji is commonly used to convey feelings of stress or intense situations.

This wasn’t just a one-off moment. The Berhampur Police handle has a knack for mixing serious law enforcement updates with a good dose of comedy. Take, for instance, their October post about a major drive against gambling. The caption outlined the ongoing raids across various police station areas over 10 days, but it was the photos of the accused that truly stole the show. Instead of revealing their identities, the police covered their faces with a range of emojis.

In another instance from October, Berhampur Police arrested an individual for cheating, and true to their style, they shared a post on social media with the accused’s face covered by an emoji.

Through these witty updates, Berhampur Police have not only captured attention but also brought a refreshing dose of humour to the usually serious world of crime.

What’s your take on this?

The man said he took this matter up with the app’s customer support team.

New Delhi:

A man in Delhi recently ordered chicken biryani through a food delivery app but found himself at the receiving end of a moral lecture, all served fresh by the delivery agent who told him: “Chicken and mutton only after Diwali.”

Expecting biryani but getting life advice, a Reddit user recounted that the delivery agent, upon dutifully delivering the order, lingered to offer up not just the OTP, but also a serving of unrequested opinion.

“What you are doing is not right,” the delivery agent allegedly said in Hindi. “Eat chicken and mutton only after Diwali and consume something clean till then.”

Caught off-guard, the Reddit user claimed he simply froze with a guilty smile. “What could I even say? Why does he care anyway?” was his inward lament.

The anecdote only gets juicier. After receiving the unsolicited advice, the Reddit user claimed the intervention left him wondering if his biryani might have had an unwelcome additional “ingredient” in it, courtesy of the aggrieved delivery man.

“What should I do? I have his number and name, he knows my home, if I report him he might make a scene,” he wrote.

The man’s post quickly went viral on Reddit, receiving over 2,000 upvotes and triggering an online debate.

“Why is he rubbing his belief on you? Ask him not to deliver chicken then!” commented one user.

“Man this was one of my biggest fears – this kind of moral policing,” wrote another.

The man wrote in the comments that he took this matter up with the app’s customer support team.

Uber apologised and confirmed that a specialized team was investigating the incident

Nidhi Tara, a communication strategist, shared a terrifying experience with an Uber driver in Mysuru on LinkedIn. After booking a ride, Ms Tara claimed that the driver became aggressive and demanded an additional ₹2,500 beyond the agreed-upon fare. When she refused, the driver became hostile and threatened her family. Fortunately, bystanders intervened, prompting him to leave the scene. However, the harassment continued. Days later, the driver unexpectedly showed up at her grandparents’ residence in Mysuru at 10:30 PM, harassing them and demanding money.

”I never imagined I’d have to share this, but safety concerns are paramount, and this situation demands urgent attention. On a recent Uber ride from Mysuru to Kempegowda International Airport, my family and I experienced unacceptable behaviour from a driver (picture attached), leading to what can only be described as a threat to our safety and security,” she wrote on LinkedIn.

Despite reporting the incident through Uber’s app, the woman received no adequate response. In her post, she urged authorities to take immediate action and safeguard families from similar harassment.

”Despite reaching out to Uber through the app and their customer service, there’s been no adequate response. An issue of this nature—post-trip harassment—is as critical as in-trip incidents. For any service provider, but especially in the ride-sharing industry, passenger safety cannot be compromised. I am calling for urgent action. This is not just about one incident but about ensuring no other family has to experience something like this again,” she added.  The woman also attached her ride details with the driver’s identity to the post.

See the full post here:

In response to the post, Uber apologised and confirmed that a specialized team was investigating the incident, taking the allegations seriously. ”Hi Nidhi, we apologise for this situation and understand how upsetting it must have been for you and your family. We can confirm a specialised team is currently investigating this incident and will be in touch in-app as soon as they have any updates,” the company wrote.

Meanwhile, the LinkedIn post sparked many reactions, with many expressing shock, outrage, and solidarity. Several users shared their own harrowing experiences with Uber drivers.

One user wrote. ”Uber’s customer care and safety services are severely lacking. I’ve experienced multiple instances where drivers have taken unsafe, isolated routes during late-night or early-morning rides, despite my requests to stay on main roads. This is especially common in Bengaluru and poses significant risks when commuting alone at odd hours. As a solo female rider, I find it hard to trust both Uber drivers and their safety team.”

Another commented, ”Local travel agencies are better and more reliable for long routes. I never faced any challenge while travelling from Dehradun to Delhi airport.”
