A seven-year-old Ohio girl pleaded with her father not to harm her during a tense standoff with police, saying, “I don’t want to go to heaven today.” On November 11, 2024, Charles Ryan Alexander, 43, abducted his daughter, Oaklynn, from her grandmother’s home in Ohio. Since Alexander did not have custody rights, authorities issued an alert, sparking a police chase that culminated in a parking lot confrontation in Ohio’s Medina County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, the Medina County Sheriff’s Office stated, “The vehicle came to a stop in a business parking lot where law enforcement attempted to negotiate with the armed suspect. The suspect, Charles Ryan Alexander, communicated with several dispatch centres by telephone. Multiple gun shots were fired in an officer-involved shooting. Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medina County Coroner, Dr. Deranek.”

Audio from a 911 call captured the moments as Alexander, armed and agitated, threatened to end both his and his daughter’s lives. “I will shoot us both, stand back!” he screamed at officers, according to a report in The New York Post. In the background, Oaklynn’s desperate voice could be heard, pleading repeatedly, “Please don’t.”

In one exchange, Oaklynn asked her father, asking are they “both going to heaven.” Alexander responded, “We’ll both go?” to which the child cries out, “No! I don’t want to go to heaven today.”

Alexander, still clutching a gun, expressed frustration about the situation, saying, “I didn’t want it to happen either; I just wanted to talk to your mother.” He addressed Oaklynn’s mother directly during the call, stating, “If you’re listening, Ashley, you should’ve called.”

911 dispatchers worked frantically to defuse the situation. “Let’s not do anything we can’t undo,” one dispatcher said. Another added, “Just keep talking to her if you don’t want her to be scared. Let’s not do anything that is going to make it even more unfair to her, ‘cause you love her, I know you do.”

Despite these efforts, the situation escalated. At an unspecified point, police fired at Alexander, fatally wounding him. Oaklynn, although unharmed physically, watched the incident.

“The 7-year-old daughter was safely recovered from the scene and returned to family members without injury,” stated the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of support for the young girl. A family friend has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of her care, mental health support and future needs.

A tech entrepreneur from Utah finds himself coming to terms with the ramifications of a decision he made back in 2008. Chris Willson purchased a historic cruise ship after discovering a listing on Craigslist. This purchase led to a 15-year journey of passionate restoration, transforming the 293-foot vessel into a treasure that boasted 85 cabins, a swimming pool, and a theatre. However, despite his efforts and dreams of establishing a museum aboard, Mr Willson was forced to sell the ship in October 2023 – a decision that continues to “haunt” him.

The ship, originally named Wappen von Hamburg and built in 1955, had a storied history as one of Germany’s first post-World War II passenger liners. Feeling inspired, Mr Willson bought the vessel and ‘sank’ his life savings – over $1 million – into the project.

Renaming it Aurora, he relocated it to California and moved aboard with his partner, Jin Li. He dedicated years to its renovation. With the help of volunteers, he made substantial progress, restoring 10 major areas of the ship. Mr Willson’s goal was to turn Aurora into a floating museum.

However, Chris Willson’s dream of transforming the vessel into a museum met with resistance from locals. His restoration project did not sit right with residents, particularly after another nearby ship, the Canadian minesweeper HMCS Chaleur, sank in 2021.

In January 2023, a military tugboat docked near the Aurora also sank, sparking a pollution issue that attracted the attention of local authorities. With the pressure mounting, Mr Willson and his partner realised they could no longer sustain the project.

“Maybe Aurora wasn’t in the right place,” Ms Li told CNN. “Maybe if Aurora was in a different state, or a different country it would have been different.”

In late 2023, Mr Willson made the difficult decision to sell the ship. While he believed the buyer shared his passion for preserving the Aurora, disaster struck just seven months later.

In May 2024, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office reported that the Aurora was sinking. A hole in the vessel caused it to take on water, leaking diesel fuel and oil into the Delta Waterway. Contractors hired by the US Coast Guard managed to refloat the ship, but it was clear the vessel’s future was bleak.

“I meticulously maintained that ship,” Mr Willson told CNN, shocked over the sinking. “We had it for 15 years, and we had no problem with it.”

“It haunts me, and I lose sleep over it,” he said.

Today, the city of Stockton is managing the operation to remove the Aurora, though no clear ownership of the ship exists. Chris Willson, who built a large following on YouTube around the restoration project, continues to reflect on his time with the ship, describing it as one of the most fulfilling experiences of his life despite the unfortunate outcome. “I don’t have any regrets on what I’ve done,” he said.

A Long Island man is facing murder charges after allegedly killing his friend during an altercation in the Hamptons early Saturday morning. Jeremy Allen, 43, was arrested after police discovered the body of Christopher Hahn, 43, hidden under a tarp on Allen’s back patio.

According to authorities, the two drunken men were discussing their plans for a 12-step recovery programme when their conversation turned heated. Prosecutors said Allen beat Hahn for approximately six hours before ultimately stabbing him in the head and neck with a large knife.

Suffolk County prosecutor Elena Tomaro described the attack as “brutal and heinous to watch”. Allen’s lawyer reported that the two men were “pounding down drinks” before the violent altercation. Allen has a history of drunk driving offences dating back to 2007, raising concerns about his conduct.

After the attack, Allen texted a local handyman for cleanup assistance. However, the handyman discovered the bloodied body and instead contacted Southampton Town Police. Southampton Town Police responded to the scene shortly before 10 am, where Christopher Hahn was pronounced dead.

Jeremy Allen was taken into custody about an hour later and was arraigned on Sunday, where he was ordered to be held without bail. He also has a pending rape case in Southampton and is currently on probation for a 2022 drunken driving conviction in Ulster County.

This incident follows another case in Ohio where a 40-year-old man was charged with murder after fatally stabbing his mother during a heated argument. The incident occurred in Green Township when Kenneth Mortimer’s mother refused his request to stay overnight at their family home.

The confrontation escalated, leading Mortimer to get a knife from the kitchen and attack both his parents. Despite his mother’s attempts to flee and call for help, she succumbed to her injuries, while Mortimer’s father remained in serious condition at a hospital. The man fled the scene but was later apprehended by police.

Authorities seized two houses, $120,370 and more than 200 Apple devices from him.

A man in the United States, who led an international ring that trafficked counterfeit Apple products, has been sentenced to 51 months (four years and three months) in prison. According to a release by Office of the United States Attorney Southern District of California, San Diego-based Zhiwei “Allen” Liao defrauded Apple out of $6.1 million by swapping real iPhones and iPads from China with fake ones in the US and Canada. Authorities seized two houses, $120,370 and more than 200 Apple devices from the 34-year-old.

The official release further said that Zhiwei Liao, along with his brothers Zhimin Liao and Zhiting Liao, imported counterfeit iPhones and iPads from China “that looked genuine and included identification numbers (IMEI and serial numbers) matching identification numbers on real iPhones and iPads that were under warranty and had been previously sold to customers in the United States and Canada”.

“Zhiwei Liao then sent the fraudulently obtained, but genuine Apple products primarily to China where they were sold at a premium,” the release further said.

According to court documents, the fraud scheme involved more than 10,000 counterfeit iPhones and iPads.

“At the direction of the Liao brothers, co-conspirators traveled to hundreds of Apple Stores across the United States and Canada, and attempted to exchange counterfeit iPhones and iPads for genuine iPhones and iPads,” said the document.

The judge defended the “significant prison sentence” stating that Zhiwei Liao was the organizer and leader of an extensive international criminal organisation and trafficked counterfeit products for several years.

“Mr Liao’s sentencing closes a major chapter in a multi-year investigation that exposed an international, elaborate scheme to sell counterfeit goods worldwide,” said FBI San Diego Special Agent in Charge Stacey Moy. “This investigation would not have been successful without the unwavering dedication and persistence of our law enforcement partners. We remain diligent in the pursuit of justice to help maintain the integrity of our economy.”

According to San Diego Union Tribune, FBI agents first investigated Zhiwei Liao and his family in 2019.

The movie theatre has also launched an investigation into the incident

A man was arrested in Michigan for allegedly exposing himself during a screening of Kristen Stewart’s new movie, ‘Love Lies Bleeding’, Fox 2 Detroit reported. According to a statement from the city’s police department, officers were called around 9:07 p.m. on Thursday about a disorderly, intoxicated person who refused to leave the MJR Southgate Cinema 20 on Trenton Road.

In a post on X, a user said the man fell asleep in a reclining theater chair with his private parts exposed while watching the movie. The picture also showed several alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, and a vape on the table next to him. Several eyewitnesses claimed that the man masturbated and then fell asleep.

“For the record, the manager handled the situation professionally and appropriately. The manager was extremely apologetic and very nice,” the user wrote in a follow-up tweet. He also shared a second photo showing two police officers walking through the lobby of the cinema.

“Upon arrival, officers encountered a 33-year-old W/M subject who was passed out inside one of the movie theatres. That male was subsequently taken into custody by officers for possession of narcotics, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest,” a statement from police said.

The movie theatre has also launched an investigation into the incident, a manager confirmed to Variety. The man has not yet been arraigned and no charges have been brought forth. The case has been submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Notably, the movie features Kristen Stewart and Katy M. Obrian portraying characters in a same-sex relationship. Ms Stewart plays the role of a gym manager in the 1980s who falls for another female bodybuilder played by Katy O’Brian.

The thriller, directed by Ross Glass, made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January, as per the Independent.

John Poulos met Valentina Trespalacios on a dating app.

A man accused of killing his girlfriend told a court in Colombian capital of Bogota that he remembers stuffing the woman’s body in a suitcase and throwing it in a garbage bin, but couldn’t recall strangling her while high on drugs. Thirty six-year-old John Poulos from Texas described the moment he woke up next to 23-year-old Valentina Trespalacios in bed next to him, with a zip tie the couple had used as sex toy tightened around her neck, as per CBS58. Trespalacios was found dead in January 2023.

“I tried to wake up Valentina, and she didn’t respond. When I initially saw her, I knew right away that something was wrong. She was very pale,” Poulos told the court.

“I just completely broke down. This was a girl that I loved,” he added.

As per New York Post, they met on a dating app in 2022 and their romance continued for nine months before he went to Colombia to meet Trespalacios and marry her.

She was 13 years younger to Poulos.

“I loved her. So, imagine killing someone that you loved,” he told the court.

The man said he did drugs with Trespalacios and used alcohol to wash it down. But on January 22, 2023, the routine gave him a bad reaction and impaired both his judgement and memory.

“I’d never done drugs before I met Valentina. My guess is what happened, I was in a drug-induced, alcohol-induced… I wasn’t completely lucid at that time, and I don’t know if I did it, I don’t know if she did it,” the 36-year-old said.

He did admit to disposing of his girlfriend’s body and running away, which he blamed on his panicked state.

Her body was discovered by a homeless man near Bogota’s main airport who alerted the police.

An autopsy found that Trespalacios died from “mechanical asphyxia,” or “strangulation”, the Post said, citing a report from The City Paper Bogota.

Poulos pleaded before the court to not send him to prison, claiming that he will be “killed there”. He was arrested from Panama while trying to board a flight to Turkey.

His identity is publicly unknown at this time.

A man in the US was taken into custody by police after a video showed him allegedly parading around Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, without any clothes. In a statement to Fox News Digital, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport said that the airport’s Department of Public Safety responded to the nude man walking inside Terminal C at about 10:15 p.m. Monday.

Videos of the bizarre incident that went viral showed him casually strolling around the airport as others watched in bewilderment. “There’s a naked guy at the airport,” a nearby passenger can be heard saying on the video. The naked man then turned and pointed to the person recording.

People had mixed reactions regarding the footage, One user wrote, ”That’s silly.” Another commented, ‘We can be sure he has no guns, he is not dangerous. And why is nudity so disturbing for some people? I recognize it’s strange, but is it so problematic?”

It’s unclear if the man was charged with anything. However, officials say they arrested him and took him into custody for a mental health evaluation.

The man’s identity has not been released and additional details about the circumstances leading up to the incident are currently unknown.

In a similar incident in March this year, a 44-year-old man was arrested after he was spotted walking down the street naked in Florida’s Palm Beach, CBS 12 reported.  The incident was reported on March 8 when an employee from Taboo called the police to report a white male walking past the store naked in full view at the 200 block of Worth Avenue. When the cops arrived at the scene, they approached the man, who was seen walking without clothing and exposing his genitals to the public.

Upon his arrest, the man claimed that he was from a ”different Earth.” He told the police that he did not know where he had left his clothes, and also refused to give his name or date of birth.
