In Bihar’s Gaya, the sight of a train engine in the middle of a field left the locals amused on Friday evening. 

The locomotive had derailed and veered into the field in Raghunathpur village between Wazirganj station and Kolhna halt. No injuries have been reported in the incident.

The engine, which was running without any coaches, was travelling towards Gaya on a loop line when it lost control and went off the tracks.

A crowd gathered after the derailment trying to decipher the sight of the engine in the middle of the field. Photos of the engine even sparked memes online – claiming trains are now being used to plough the fields. 

A railway relief team later arrived at the scene and efforts were still on to bring it back on the tracks. NDTV tried to contact the Wazirganj station manager, but there was no response.

At least 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express passenger train derailed in Uttar Pradesh in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred near Kanpur railway station as the train was en route to Jhansi.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the rail route has been disrupted.

According to North Central Railway, Sabarmati Express 19168, which operates between Varanasi Junction and Ahmedabad, derailed after striking a boulder.

The police reported that no passengers were injured. Fire trucks and ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and a thorough inspection of the train confirmed that no one was hurt.

“The railways are arranging for a bus to transport passengers to another station, from where they will be sent onward by a special train,” said a police officer.

Buxar, Bihar:

 A coach of a goods train derailed near Dumaron station in Bihar’s Buxar district on Monday night, officials said.

According to a railway spokesman, the goods train was on its way from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to Fatuha via Buxar when the incident took place.

Four wheels of one of the coaches got derailed prompting the loco pilot to apply the emergency brake and stop the train.

Following the information, a team of senior railway officials also reached to the spot to assess the situation.

Railway staff also arrived at the spot and efforts to put the derailed coach back on track were on.

This is the second derailment incident reported in Bihar’s Buxar district in the last one week.

Earlier on October 11, four people died while 42 others were injured following the derailment of 21 coaches of Kamakhya-bound North East Express in Buxar.
