A 20-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding luxury car while filming reels of it on the beach road here on Tuesday, police said.

The person who died has been identified as Alvin from Vadakara. He was the only child of his parents.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 7.30 am on the beach road under the limits of the Vellayil police station.

Alvin, who had recently returned from abroad, was recording promotional reels for a showroom that sells accessories for high-end cars.

Alvin, who was filming the video, was struck by the speeding car that threw him away, causing serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries by 11.30 am.

A police officer said that two cars–a Land Rover Defender and a Mercedes-Benz–brought from the showroom were seized.

An investigation is underway to determine which car was involved in the accident.

A 29-year-old man was killed while his three friends suffered critical injuries after a speeding Baleno collided with a Fortuner parked on the roadside on the Golf Course Road in Sector 53, police said on Monday.

The incident took place at around 11.30 pm on Sunday when the speeding Baleno was moving towards Sikanderpur, officials said.

The driver lost control of the car when some animals came in front of it, and collided with a Fortuner parked in front of the Central Plaza Mall, police said.

All four occupants of the Baleno were seriously injured in the crash and were rushed to a nearby hospital by the police, where doctors declared one of them dead.

The person who dies has been identified as Rishabh Kaushik, a resident of Delhi, officials said.

“Kaushik was heading towards Delhi after playing a cricket with his friends. The body has been handed over to his family members after a post-mortem,” SHO of Sector 53 police station Sukhbir Singh said.

A man in Slovakia was fined after traffic camera captured his dog behind the wheel of his car. In a Facebook post on Friday, the police said the incident took place in the western Slovakian village of Sterusy. They shared the news of their interaction with the dog driving the car about its “irresponsible” behaviour in a fun way. The car was going 6.8 miles per hour (nearly 11 kmph) over the speed limit, Business Insider said in a report.

“Mr dog, you exceeded the speed in the village: your driving certificates…” the police said in the translated post.

“Please, I don’t have…” barked the dog. Well, you’ll pay extra for that. Do you have anything, please? “I don’t have…” the police’s post further added to the fake conversation.

The Facebook post further said that the police officers could not believe themselves when the photo popped up on the police radar and showed just the dog with no human in sight.

“Instead of a photo of the driver, a brown hunting dog, who sat obediently behind the wheel of a Skoda and peeked out the windshield promising young deer,” the post continued.

The driver told the cops that the dog had jumped on his lap during the driver, but they couldn’t identify any sudden movement inside the car while reviewing the footage.

The driver was fined, but the police did not mention the amount or the charges that he faced.

The police asked the drivers to follow proper protocols while transporting their pets, adding such things can cause safety issues.

“Even a small animal can endanger your life and health while driving,” the Facebook post said.

A similar incident took place in Colorado in May this year, when a man tried to get out of his own legal troubles by swapping places with his dog while at a traffic stop.
