Punjab Kings Schedule IPL 2025: Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction with the highest purse and have made some significant purchases heading into the new season. Shreyas Iyer, who won the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) last year, will be leading PBKS this year after being bought for Rs 26.75 crore in the mega auction. Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh were the other big Indian buys, while the purchases of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Marco Jansen add explosive overseas firepower. Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has been making news of late over his personal life. Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma have reportedly decided to part ways, with the news triggering a social media storm. Amid this social media chatter, the Indian cricket team leg-spinner was spotted on the sets of Bigg Boss 18 with fellow Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer and Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh. Seeing the trio, fans understandably got excited, wondering if a potential participation in the Salman Khan-starrer show was on the cards.

While the exact reason behind their appearance isn’t yet known, it has been reported suggested the trio might feature in the upcoming Weekend Ka Vaar special episode, taking the excitement around the show to a new level.

Both Chahal and Dhanashree recently took to social media to address the chatter around thier personal lives.

Dhanashree was heartbroken by the vile comments being made against her on social media amid divorce rumours. She wrote on social media: “The past few days have been incredibly tough for my family and me. What’s truly upsetting is the baseless writing, devoid of fact-checking, and the character assassination of my reputation by faceless trolls spreading hate.”

Chahal also broke his silence on the matter, though he directly didn’t confirm the divorce news. He said: “I am grateful to all my fans for their unwavering love and support without which, I wouldn’t have come this far. But this journey is far from OVER!!! As there are still many incredible OVERS left to deliver for my country, my team, and for my fans!!! While I am proud to be a sportsman, I am also a Son, a Brother, and a Friend. I understand the curiosity surrounding recent events, particularly about my personal life. However, I have noticed certain social media posts speculating on matters that may or may not be true,” Chahal wrote in his statement.

PBKS Full Squad, IPL 2025: Punjab Kings entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with by far the highest budget of Rs 110.5 crore, and went to business immediately. PBKS spent a fortune of Rs 18 crore each on Indian bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, but undoubtedly their headline signing was that of Indian batter Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 cr, making him the second-most expensive player in IPL history. PBKS Full Squad, IPL 2025: Punjab Kings (PBKS) went all in for star India batter Shreyas Iyer, buying the batter Rs 26.75 crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. Iyer thus became the most expensive buy ever in the history of the IPL auction. PBKS were in intense tussle with Delhi Capitals for the signature of the batter. KKR, who had released Iyer before the auction, had also entered the bidding war to buy back the player. PBKS also bought Yuzvendra Chahal for 18 crore, making him the most expensive Indian spinner to be sold in the history of IPL players auction. “Goal Is To Win Silverware”: Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon Ahead Of IPL 2025 Auction

Ahead of the highly-anticipated auctions for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings announced batters Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh as their player retentions for the coming edition. Prabhsimran has been with Punjab since 2019 and over the past six years, the wicketkeeper has scored 756 runs in 34 games at an average of 22.24 and a strike rate of 146.23. Meanwhile, Shashank emerged as one of the key players for the team last season, scoring an impressive 354 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.25 and a strike rate of 164.65.

Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon ahead of the IPL Auction said that the goal of the franchise is to win the silverware in the upcoming season. He also praised their newly appointed head coach Ricky Ponting and said that he is one of the sharpest minds in cricket.

“This auction will be critical as we go there with maximum purse. We will build on what we have at the moment. It will be an interesting auction, especially for us, as we also have a new coach in Ricky Ponting. He is one of the sharpest minds in cricket. You will see us develop an extraordinary team. Our goal is to go for silverware this year – nothing short of that,” Menon was quoted in a release from Punjab Kings as saying.

He added that the Punjab-based franchise has put a lot of faith in Prabhsimran Singh.

“We have seen Prabhsimran develop over the last six years. He is a player that we have put a lot of faith in. We have seen him bloom. He played some fantastic innings last year. We believe he is on the cusp of breaking into the big leagues,” he said.

“As far as Shashank is concerned, he is known for his batting at multiple positions in the order. He showed his mettle last season. He continues with the same style and passion. That was one of the big reasons why we retained him. He is a gun fielder. And these two players are the best fits for us,” he added.

Earlier this year, the Kings announced Ricky Ponting as the Head Coach for the coming season, and Menon hinted that the Aussie legend will bring in new and fresh ideas at the upcoming auctions. He further added that his side will eye the trophy this season.

Ricky Ponting To Bring In Ex-Australia Teammate To Punjab Kings Support Staff? Report Is Revealing

Punjab Kings have decided to retain majority of their support staff after the arrival of new head coach Ricky Ponting with fast bowling coach James Hopes likely to be the sole addition for IPL 2025. Ponting, who was appointed head coach last month, had used the services of fellow Aussie James Hopes when he was head coach at Delhi Capitals. Spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi, batting and fielding coach Brad Haddin and Trevor Gonsalves, who were all part of Trevor Bayliss’ team, have been retained for the upcoming season.

Bayliss was the head coach last year and Sanjay Bangar the head of cricket development with both now out of the coaching setup.

“Brad Haddin and Sunil have been retained. James Hopes is likely to be the fast bowling coach,” an IPL source told PTI.

Ponting has been appointed on a four-year contract in the hope of changing the team’s fortunes. Punjab have never won the IPL and their sole final appearance came way back in 2014.

They have failed to finish even in the top five in the last seven editions and ended ninth out of 10 teams earlier this year.

Ponting yet to decide on player retention

The player retention deadline is October 31 but the Australian great is yet to decide on the number of players to retain ahead of the mega auction.

The franchise is expected to retain lead pacer Arshdeep Singh who has been with them for six seasons. In the uncapped category, they could retain Shashank Singh who provided the silver lining to their otherwise ordinary campaign last year.

“Ricky and his team will decide on the player retention soon,” added the source.

Punjab, who were led by Shikhar Dhawan for the past two season, will be aiming to find their new captain probably at the auction table.

“Our team position was 12:45. It was 12:40, I didn’t know when 40 minutes passed. And we were talking about cricket, about technique, about shots, about mental chatter,” he added.

“And the way he was answering, it felt like, keep doing it, keep doing it. It felt like, he is one of our Chhattisgarh players. He was so friendly, talking to me to help me understand. It felt so good to talk to him,” he added.

Earlier, Mishra had drawn a comparison between Kohli and Rohit, saying the latter has remained the same over the years but the former has changed drastically due to ‘fame and power’ he has earned.

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those. I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat samosas, when he needed pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli the captain,” he had said in a podcast.

Talking to the broadcasters, after the match got completed, he gave a peek into how he has changed his batting this IPL.

“I’ve brought out the slog-sweep to the spinners. I just mentally put myself in that situation and I didn’t practice it at all,” Kohli said after the match. “I know I can hit it because I’ve hit it a lot in the past. So, I just felt like I need to take a bit more risk and for me that shot was something that I used to hit regularly back in the day. And that’s allowing me to hit off the back foot as well because I’m always looking to expose that side of the field against the spin. For me that has been a massive factor in this IPL.”

“So, I think it just takes a bit more conviction and take out that thought that props up: ‘what if you get out’. I’ve been managing to stay ahead of that thought in this IPL and that’s really helped me in the middle overs in this IPL, keeping my strike rate up and keeping the scoring rate going for the team as well,” he said.
