Kota:

A first-year student allegedly faked his kidnapping and sent photos of him tied up and gagged to his parents, demanding Rs 2 lakh as ransom, the police in Rajasthan’s Kota said on Thursday.

Bhojraj Gochar, a resident of Jagpura, filed a missing person’s report, claiming his 18-year-old son Suraj Gochar, who left home on Tuesday, did not return, Superintendent of Police (SP) Amrita Duhan said.

A team was formed under Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma to rescue the teen, she said.

During investigations, Bhojraj Gochar told the police that he received a ransom demand of Rs 2 lakh on WhatsApp. A photograph of his son with his hands tied and mouth gagged was also sent to him from his son’s phone, Ms Duhan said.

Based on the input and technical investigation, the police detained Suraj Gochar from the Jaipur Junction station this evening, she said.

The teen hatched the plot after watching a television series to recoup the Rs 40,000 he had lost in an online game, she said.

Suraj Gochar left home on the pretext of filling out his admission form and reached Jaipur, where he took a picture of himself tied and gagged in a hostel room using the timer on his phone camera and sent it to his father, the police said.

Jaipur:

A 55-year old woman and her minor grandson were allegedly killed by a tenant here on Monday.

Police said accused Manoj Bairwa attacked Prem Devi with a sharp-edged weapon after an argument in the Sanganer area of Jaipur. Her seven-year-old grandson Gaurav, who was standing there, was also allegedly killed by the accused, they added.

Bairwa allegedly dumped the bodies in the water tank of the house.

The accused was later taken in police custody for questioning, they said, adding that the bodies were shifted to the mortuary of a nearby hospital for postmortem.

Jaipur:

A foreign national employed at a mine in Rajsamand district in Rajasthan died after accidentally falling from the balcony of his house, police said on Friday.

Luis Angil (38), a resident of Peru, was on the phone when he accidentally fell from the balcony of his house on Wednesday night, they said.

Police said the body was handed over to his brother after postmortem. He and his brother were employed at Dariba mines as an operator.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased was drunk and while talking to his family members on the mobile, he lost his balance and fell down from the balcony, due to which his head got injured and he died,” SHO of Railmagra Police Station Prabhu Singh said.

Jaipur:

A man who was arrested on murder charges allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the window of a prison in Dausa’s Lalsot police station, police said today.

Dausa Superintendent Ranjeeta Sharma said Manoj Meena, 32, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly murdering his relative and was in custody.

On the night of his arrest, Manoj Meena hanged himself from the window of the jail with a blanket, the Superintendent of Police said.

He was immediately rushed to the district hospital where he was declared dead, she said.

The postmortem of the body has been conducted and will be handed over to family members. The matter is being investigated, she added.

Jaipur:

 A 23-year-old man allegedly killed a passerby with a cricket bat outside his house here while his cop-father was inside, police said on Wednesday.

DCP (West) Amit Budhania said the accused Kshitij Sharma has been arrested and is being interrogated.

The incident took place outside the accused’s house in Rajni Bihar Colony here while his father Prashant Sharma, an inspector in Rajasthan Police, was inside the home, the DCP said.

The incident took place outside the inspector’s house on Tuesday night when Kshitij got into an argument with Mohan Lal Sindhi (35) who was crossing through the area.

As the argument escalated, Kshitij allegedly went inside the house to bring a bat and used it to repeated hit Sindhi’s head, eventually leading to his death, the police said citing a CCTV video of the incident.

Meanwhile, Kshitij’s father came out of the house upon hearing some noise and found Sindhi lying unconscious on the road, they said.

They took the victim to a nearby hospital where the victim was declared brought dead, Mr Budhania said.

A case was filed against Kshitij under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and he was arrested, he said.

 Two masked men carrying firearms looted Rs 10.75 lakh from a bank in Badgaun village of Baran district on Wednesday, police said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Baran Rajesh Choudhary said two bike-borne masked men carrying firearms barged into the Badgaun village branch of the UCO bank around 12 noon and looted Rs 10.75 lakh.

They fired a shot in the air to terrorise the bank staffers, the police officer said, adding that a used cartridge was found at the spot.

On receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and initiated a probe into the matter. Police teams have been formed to arrest the accused and CCTV footage was being examined, the ASP said.

Jaipur:

A 32-year-old man was detained in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district on Wednesday for allegedly murdering a woman over some dispute, police said.

They said Sonu Sharma slit Poonam Sharma’s throat at a rented room in Patpara colony under the Sar Mathura police station area.

“The matter seems to be a love affair. The accused has been detained and is being interrogated. The accused is married and has children but the victim was unmarried. The exact reason behind the attack is being probed,” Bharatpur DSP Sunil Kumar Sharma said.

He said the body was handed over to the woman’s family members after a post-mortem examination.

The police officer said the accused also tried slitting his wrist and injured himself but was discharged after primary treatment at a hospital.

He said a case of murder has been registered against the accused at the Sar Mathura police station and the matter is being investigated.

Police in Baran district on Thursday said a 40-year-old man was murdered nine days ago and his body left in a dry pond allegedly by his two friends for refusing to perform oral sex.

One of them has been held while the other is admitted to a hospital under police guard after he ingested a poisonous substance fearing arrest, they said.

Baran Superintendent of Police Raj Kumar Choudhary said Om Prakash Bairwa was found dead in the Baran city police station area on February 26.

Based on technical investigation and inquiries, police traced the two accused, Murlidhar Prajapati (32) and Surendra Yadav, both residents of Baran city, the official said, adding that Prajapati was arrested.

During initial interrogation, Prajapati admitted to the murder, SP Choudhary added.

He said Prajapati, Yadav and Bairwa consumed alcohol together on the day of the murder and went to a nearby village to visit Prajapati’s sister.

On the way back, Prajapati and Yadav beat up Bairwa and hacked him to death for refusing to perform oral sex with them, the official added.

Prajapati ran a roadside dhaba while the other accused is a daily wage worker, SHO of Baran city police station Ramvilas said.

Police filed case against Ramdev under the charges of inciting hatred and upsetting religious sentiments.

Jodhpur:

The Rajasthan High Court has directed yoga guru Ramdevtoappearon October 5 at Barmer’s Chohtan police station for questioning in connection with an FIR against him for allegedly hurtingreligioussentiments, while extending the stayon his arrest.

The court directed Ramdevtoappearbefore the Investigating Officer as and when called by him and also directed the government counsel to produce the case diary in the court on October 16. It extended the stayonRamdev‘s arrest till then.

Justice Kuldeep Mathur gave these directions on Monday while hearing a criminal miscellaneous petition by Ramdev praying for the quashing of the FIR.

“The petitioner is directed toappearbefore the Investigating Officer for interrogation on  05.10.2023   at  11.30  am. The petitioner is further directed toappearbefore the Investigating Officer as and when called by him for interrogation”, the order said.

The court had stayed the arrest of  Ramdev during the previous hearing and directed him toappearbefore the investigating officer for interrogation on or before May 20. But he did not appearbefore the investigating officer.

The complaint was filed against the yoga guru at Chohtan police station in Barmer on February 5 by Pathai Khan for allegedly making remarks against Muslims at a religious event in Barmer on February 2.

Chohtan police had then booked him under the charges of inciting hatred and upsetting religioussentiments.

In his complaint, Khan alleged that Ramdev had made his remarks “deliberately… so that a spirit of animosity and hatred is formed against Islam” and that they had “hurt the feelings of crores of Muslims”.
