Jaipur:

A group of men kidnapped a youth, tied him up with ropes and beat him to death using sticks in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, police said on Tuesday.

Purported videos of the assault which have been shot by the accused have surfaced online, they said.

Jhunjhunu Superintendent of Police Rajarshi Verma said the incident happened on Thursday in Surajgarh Police Station area. The accused made a video while assaulting Rameshwar Valmiki (27), he said.

Deependra alias Chintu, Praveen Kumar alias PK, Subhash alias Chintu, Satish alias Sukh, Praveen alias Baba have already been arrested in the case, Verma said.

Deependra was a history-sheeter of Surajgarh Police Station, the SP said.

The accused kidnapped Valmiki from his house, took him to a place where they tied him up and beat him with sticks so much that he died, he added.

The victim’s elder brother Kaluram registered a complaint on the matter, police said.

Jaipur:

A 32-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in the Shyam Nagar area on Saturday, police said.

Kajal Sarkar (35), originally from West Bengal, stabbed his wife Preeti after an argument. He then surrendered to the police, they said.

The police said Sarkar reached the police station and informed the duty officer that he had murdered his wife. He was immediately detained and a police team reached the spot to recover Preeti’s body.

The couple had been quarrelling over some issue during the past three days, the police said.

The accused has been arrested and is being interrogated, they added.

Jaipur:

Three Rajasthan Police personnel were suspended on Friday after a purported video of a man being forced to pluck his own facial hair during questioning surfaced on social media, officials said.

Superintendent of Police, Bhilwara, Rajan Dushyant said the action of suspension was taken for harassing the man during questioning.

The police action came after Mandal MLA Uday Lal Bhadana met with Dushyant over the video clip. No police personnel were, however, seen in the video.

The SP said Pratap Nagar SHO Sugan Singh, ASI Mahendra Khoji and Constable Banwar Lal have been suspended.

Identifying the man seen in the video as Suresh Gurjar, officials said he was arrested in connection with a case of scuffling on May 8.
