New Delhi:

A bus carrying 45 passengers crashed into a truck in Rajasthan’s Dausa district on Thursday morning, injuring 30 people and leaving at least 10 in a critical condition. The incident took place on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway when the sleeper bus was travelling from Ujjain to Delhi.

According to officials, dense fog in the morning caused the accident.

The impact of the crash was so strong that the front of the bus was shattered. Visuals of the incident site show the bus – especially up to the driver’s seat, being completely wrecked.

The injured people have been taken to a nearby hospital, while the ones in critical condition have been taken to Jaipur for treatment. Most of the injured people are residents of Delhi and others are from Sonipat and Kota.

“This accident happened in front of pillar number 198 on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Ladli Ka Bans village. Due to heavy fog, a sleeper coach bus collided with a truck. There were about 45 people on this bus. The accident was so severe that the front part of the bus was completely damaged,” Deputy SP Charul Gupta said.

Last month, an LPG tanker collided with a truck in Rajasthan on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, sparking a massive fire and turning the stretch into an inferno. At least 19 people were killed in the incident. The explosion was so intense that several vehicles within a 300-meter radius were engulfed and completely burned and many drivers were reportedly burned in the incident, with some left in critical condition.

Bikaner:

In a miraculous escape, five passengers were unhurt after their car flipped eight times in a freak accident on a highway in Rajasthan’s Nagaur on Friday. The incident was captured on CCTV which showed the SUV, carrying five people, speeding on the highway.

As the driver of the car was taking a turn, he seemed to have lost control. Within seconds, the vehicle flipped at least eight times and landed in an upside-down position in front of a car showroom. Visuals showed the car crashing into the company’s main gate which broke due to the impact.

The crash was so strong that the vehicle was left in a mangled wreck.

However, none of the passengers were hurt in the incident.

According to officials, the driver first jumped out of the car while it was flipping. The rest of the four passengers got out after the car landed in front of the showroom.

Hilariously, they instead went inside the showroom and asked, “hume chai pila do” (Please give us tea).

“No one was hurt…not even a single scratch. As soon as they entered, they asked for tea,” an official working in the car agency said.

Officials said that the passengers were travelling from Nagaur to Bikaner.

Jaipur:

Three school students were killed and 25 others were injured when a bus overturned in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred when the students of Mahatma Gandhi School, Amet were en route to Parshuram Mahadev temple in Desuri, Pali for a picnic by bus, District Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi said.

There were 62 children and six teachers in the bus, he said.

The bus went out of control and overturned near Desuri Naal, killing three students and 25 other children injured in the accident, while 37 students were sent home after first aid, the DSP said.

Charbhuja Station House Officer Govardhan Singh said that three students who died on the spot in the accident have been identified as Preeti, Aarti, and Anita.

The injured have been admitted to the hospital and the bodies have been handed over to the family members after post-mortem, Tripathi said.

A case has been registered against the bus driver and investigation is underway, the officer said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Governor Haribhau Bagade expressed condolences.

The chief minister in a post on X in Hindi said,”As soon as information about the accident was received, necessary instructions were given to the district administration officials to ensure proper and immediate medical treatment of the injured children.” “I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed souls in his feet and provide speedy recovery to the injured children. Om Shanti,” he said in his post.

Dholpur (Rajasthan):

Twelve people were killed after a sleeper bus collided with a tempo (three wheeled auto-rikshaw) in Rajasthan’s Dholpur district, officials confirmed on Sunday.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Saturday night, claiming the lives of 12 people, including children.

Shiv Lahari Meena, in charge of Bari Kotwali Police Station, told the media, “Yesterday at around 11 pm, a sleeper bus was travelling from Dhaulpur to Jaipur. The accident occurred near Sunipur, involving a tempo. Twelve people have lost their lives in the accident, including three adult women, the tempo driver, and several children.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma acknowledged the accident and directed the administration to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

“The news of lives lost in the tragic road accident in Dholpur is extremely distressing. District administration officials have been instructed to ensure timely and adequate medical care for the injured. I pray to Lord Shri Ram for peace for the departed souls and a speedy recovery for the injured,” he said.

Former Rajasthan chief minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot also expressed his grief on X.

“The loss of 12 lives in the road accident in Dholpur is deeply saddening. I pray to God for peace for the departed souls and a quick recovery for those injured,” Mr Gehlot said.

New Delhi:

At least six pilgrims were killed and three others injured when their car collided with an “unknown” vehicle in Rajasthan’s Bundi district this morning, police said.

The accident occurred around 4:30 am near Hindoli on the Jaipur National Highway when the pilgrims – residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Dewas – were going to offer prayers at the Khatu Shyam temple in the Sikar district.

“Six people were killed when an unknown vehicle hit their car, a Maruti Suzuki Eeco,” Bundi’s Additional Superintendent of Police Uma Sharma said.

“We have formed teams to trace the unknown vehicle,” she said.

The senior police officer said they were trying to identify the victims.

Kota (Rajasthan):

A man was killed and his wife and eight-year-old son injured in a road accident here while they were going to attend the last rites of her father, police said on Saturday.

The driver of the cab that the Mumbai-based couple had hired from Jaipur was also injured when the vehicle rammed into a truck near Chatarganj village on National Highway 52 early morning.

The family had reached Jaipur from Mumbai by a flight.

According to the police, Rajat Rastogi (40) and Anubha (38), both chartered accountants and residents of Alwar district, left for Jaipur with their son Athar on Friday night. Upon reaching the state capital, they hired a cab to reach here for the funeral and last rites of Anubha’s father, who died on Friday.

The cab, which was likely speeding, rammed into a truck near Chatarganj village on NH 52 at around 4 am, Station House Officer (SHO), Hindoli police station, Pawan Kumar Meena said. All four occupants of the car, including cab driver Kuldeepak, were rushed to Community Health Centre, Hindoli, where doctors declared Rajat dead on arrival, while the other three were unconscious, SHO Meena said.

The injured were given primary medical care and then referred to Bundi district hospital, he said.

The exact reason for the incident will be clear only after the statements of the injured, who are currently in unconscious state, are recorded, the SHO said.

The body of the victim has been handed over to the family after post-mortem and a case has been lodged in the incident, he said.

Jaipur:

Four people were killed and over 20 injured in a collision between a mini bus and a car in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district on Monday, police said.

The accident occurred near Thali village when an uncontrolled car, after hitting a motorcycle, rammed into a minibus, Singhana SHO Kailash Chand Yadav said.

Car passengers — Karanveer (27), Rinku (25) and Rahul (19) — a motorcyclist, Suresh (40), and minibus driver Hanuman (45) died on the spot, he said.

The car was on its way to Singhana in Jhunjhunu, the SHO said, adding that over 20 people got injured in the accident.

Some are being treated at a hospital in Singhana while some have been referred to Jhunjhunu, he said.

In another accident in Tonk district, an uncontrolled car collided with a truck after hitting the divider late Sunday evening, police said.

Both vehicles overturned on the roadside due the impact of the accident, they said.

Two friends — Pradhuman (20) and Ayush (20) — travelling in the car died on the spot and three others got injured.

The injured, Rajukumar (20), Rudresh (22) and Surrender (25), were referred to a hospital in Kota late at night in critical condition, police said.

The bodies were handed over to the families after post-mortem on Monday.

Nine men were killed after the van they were travelling in was rammed by a speeding truck in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar on Saturday night, police said. 

The group of 10 was returning from a wedding in Madhya Pradesh’s Khilchipur when the accident took place.

While three of the men were killed on the spot, six others died during treatment at the hospital.

After the accident, the driver of the truck fled the scene but was detained later.

Police are questioning him. Further investigation is on.

Jaipur:

A car rammed into a religious procession in Rajasthan’s Nagaur on Thursday, leaving five injured after the driver suffered a heart attack, police said.

Driver Ishaq Mohammad (60) was going to a hospital in Degana with one of his family members for a medical checkup, they said, adding the car was behind the procession being taken out by the Jangid community on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.

“Due to the heart attack, Ishaq perhaps pressed the accelerator and rammed into the procession leaving five of them injured. The driver was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. Three of the injured were discharged after primary treatment,” Degana Circle Officer Rameshwar Saharan said.

A purported CCTV footage of the incident showed that Ishaq was driving slowly behind the procession in a narrow lane. However, he suddenly speeded up, rammed into the procession and hit a wall on the roadside.

In a post on X, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said, “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of civilians injured in a road accident during the procession taken out on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti in Degana.” “I pray to the Lord for the peace of the departed soul and for the speedy recovery of the injured. May the family members have the strength to bear this shock,” he said.

Barmer, Rajasthan:

A government school principal and a girl student were killed after a bus they were travelling in with 27 others rammed a dumper parked on roadside in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on Saturday night, police said.

The school principal was identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, while the girl student as Savina.

This incident took place around 8:00 pm near Sehlau village.

According to officials, the passengers on board included 24 girl students from Swami Vivekananda Government Model School in Detani and four others, including the school principal and three teachers.

“They were returning after a victorious tournament organised in Raniwara,” they said.

Officials said that the bus driver couldn’t see a dumper truck that was parked on the side of Bharat Mala Road near Sehlau village and ended up ramming into it.

“The exact reason behind the accident is, however, not clear,” they said.

Police said that the truck was parked with its parking lights switched off, which led to the bus driver not noticing the vehicle, resulting in a collision.

The accident was so severe that the conductor’s side of the bus sustained extensive damage, and the school principal, who was seated there, died on the spot.

Local residents in the area heard the sound of the crash and rushed to the scene, calling for an ambulance.

Upon receiving information, a police team also arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of the villagers, shifted those injured in the accident to the hospital.

“20 of them were seriously injured and taken to Chauhatan Hospital, while nine others have been sent to Gagariya Hospital,” they said.

While the school principal died on the spot, and the girl student died during treatment.

“Students whose condition is critical have been referred to Jodhpur for treatment,” ADM Anjum Tahir Samma said.
