Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government will continue to extend its support to the accelerated development of Telangana in a more vigorous way as the Centre is of a view that development of the States formed the basis of his government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, a developed India.

“Governments of different parties in the States is natural in a democracy. Development of the States is of paramount importance for the comprehensive development of the country. My wish is to see Viksit Bharat 2047 realised,” the Prime Minister said. The Prime Minister was speaking after inaugurating/ laying foundation stones for a spree of developmental works with an estimated outlay of ₹9,400 crore in different parts of the State on Sunday (May 10, 2026).

Mr. Modi appeared relaxed when he responded in a jovial manner to the request made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Chief Minister recalled how Gujarat became a role model for the country in development during the 10 year rule of Mr. Modi as Chief Minister and wanted the same help to be replicated in Telangana.

“We are ready to give benefits in the same measure to Telangana. But the State will have to lose half of what it is securing from the Centre now and you (the Chief Minister) will not be able to achieve your goals. It is better you join me,” the Prime Minister said.

Mr. Modi referred to the projects like Zaheerabad Industrial Park (National Institute of Manufacuting Zone), IOC terminal at Malkapur and multi-tracking of railway line between Kazipet and Vijayawada which he inaugurated or laid foundation stone for and said these major projects were aimed at making Telangana a manufacturing hub. They envisaged infrastructure development resulting in creation of huge employment opportunities besides strengthening connectivity of the State.

“India is currently on a reforms express and we have given a thrust to development of modern infrastructure simultaneously. The Zaheerabad industrial corridor for instance is part of Viksit Bharat objectives. The corridor will be developed into a smart city with world class infrastructure and advanced ICT network. All the facilities required by global investors will be created there,” he said.

The Central government was determined to spend thousands of crores for creating huge employment potential and leveraging the strength of the youth and the working class. He recalled how the textile industry of the country had glorious past and said steps had been initiated to revive the same.

The PM Mitra Park at Warangal, which was inaugurated on Sunday, was sure to revolutionise the textile sector again and all the Central schemes/subsidies, including the PIL scheme, would be applicable to the units being set up there. Referring to advanced connectivity, he said the Centre had launched connectivity development in an unprecedented way. More than ₹2 lakh crore was being spent on the development of highways alone. Referring to the launch of four-laning works of Mahbubnagar-Gudeballur, part of the Hyderabad-Goa economic corridor, he said the national highway expansion would benefit both Telangana and Karnataka.

He recalled how his government had been giving priority to release of funds for development of infrastructure in Telangana and said the railway budget, which was less than ₹1,000 crore for Telangana in the erstwhile undivided State, had been enhanced to ₹5,500 crore. There were works worth over ₹50,000 crore in progress in the State as of now with five Vande Bharat and six Amrut Bharat expresses operating from Telangana.

The Centre had given equal priority to energy security and had hence, launched the Malkapur terminal which would cater to the needs of Telangana and strengthen the supply chain infrastructure here. “We are working on ethanol blending, piped gas networks on an unprecedented scale as judicious use of petrol is the need of the hour to save foreign exchange as well as minimise disruptions in the event of a war,” he said.

The Prime Minister said youth of Telangana had huge aspirations in playing their part in achieving ‘Viksit Telangana’ on the lines of the progress towards Viksit Bharat – 2047 goals.

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Palam airport in Delhi on Friday after concluding his two-nation visit to France and the US.

During his visit, PM Modi co-chaired AI summit in France and in the US, he also met President Donald Trump – the first meeting of the two leaders after Donald Trump assumed charge as the 47th US President on January 20, 2025.

PM Modi held a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday. The two leaders shared a hug as Donald Trump welcomed PM Modi at the White House on Thursday.

Donald Trump said that he, PM Modi, and the two nations have “great unity and great friendship.” He called it “important” to remain united as nations.During his meeting with PM Modi on Thursday (local time), Donald Trump stressed that the ties between the two nations will get closer.

PM Modi told US President Donald Trump on Thursday that he is delighted to see him back at the White House for a second term and expressed confidence that the two countries will continue to advance India-US strategic partnership with the “same bond, trust and excitement.”

In his remarks, PM Modi said the people of India had also allowed him to serve them for a third successive term, and this has happened after 60 years in the country’s history.

This was PM Modi’s first visit to the United States since President Donald Trump’s inauguration of the second presidential term last month. PM Modi is among the first few world leaders to visit the United States following the inauguration of President Trump and has been invited to visit the US within barely three weeks of the new administration.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri provided an overview of PM Modi’s visit to the US. He said that the Prime Minister held discussions with notable figures, including newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

The Foreign Secretary emphasised that the extensive four-hour talks at the White House covered a wide range of issues, including strategic and security cooperation, defence, trade, economic engagement, technology, energy security, and regional and global concerns.

While addressing a press briefing on Thursday (local time), Misri said, “The PM just concluded a very substantive and productive visit to the United States at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This is the Prime Minister’s first visit to the United States after the inauguration of President Trump for a second term. This visit is a signal of the priority that both leaders attach to the India-US relationship. The newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, paid a call to the PM. The PM received Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy.”

“The discussions at the White House went on for four hours. The discussions covered a lot of ground. The entire gamut of the relationship, ranging from strategic and security cooperation, defence, trade and economic engagement, technology, energy security and people-to-people linkages, regional and global issues of concerns were dealt with,” Misri added.

Prior to visiting US, PM Modi was on a three-day visit to France from February 10-12, where he participated in various programmes related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), commerce, energy, and cultural linkages. He co-chaired the AI Action Summit, a gathering of world leaders and global tech CEOs.

During his France visit, PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron visited Marseille. The two leaders visited the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor project, in which India is a member of the consortium of partner countries that include France. PM Modi also paid tributes to the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during World Wars I and II at the Mazargues War Cemetery.

PM Modi and Macron also visited the control room of CMA-CGM, a global leader in shipping and logistics. The two leaders jointly inaugurated the Indian Consulate in Marseille. Macron came to see off PM Modi at the Marseille airport as departed for the US for the second leg of his visit.

New Delhi:

Calling India a “very important partner”, Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on Wednesday heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the West Asian nation believes that the Indian leader is one of the wisest persons in the world.

“I would like to thank you for the invitation and also for the opportunity of meeting Prime Minister Modi, who we believe is one of the wisest persons worldwide. I am sure that the Prime Minister puts India on a better level, and I am sure that he will continue that… India is a very important partner and we count on our relationship,” the visiting Foreign Minister said in his opening remarks at the delegation-level meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday evening.

Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya arrived in India late Tuesday night for an official visit that aims at further strengthening the multifaceted relationship between the two countries.

In the afternoon, he made a courtesy call on PM Modi at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence before holding a meeting with EAM Jaishankar at the Hyderabad House.

“Glad to receive Foreign Minister of Kuwait Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. I thank the Kuwaiti leadership for the welfare of the Indian nationals. India is committed to advance our deep-rooted and historical ties for the benefit of our people and the region,” PM Modi posted on X after the meeting.

India and Kuwait share a historically strong bilateral relationship that has stood the test of time. Rooted in centuries of trade and cultural exchange, the partnership predates Kuwait’s independence in 1961, during which the Indian Rupee served as its legal tender.

“I think the Joint Committee will solve many issues between Kuwait and India. I think we can draw a roadmap between Kuwait and India and proceed as fast as we can,” said Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya.

Kuwait’s economy, before the discovery of oil, thrived on maritime activities, including shipbuilding, pearl diving, and trading goods like Arabian horses, dates, and pearls with India in exchange for wood, spices, and textiles.

This legacy of cooperation was commemorated during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2021-22.

The Indian community, estimated to be one million strong, forms the largest expatriate group in Kuwait. Known for their diverse contributions, Indians hold roles across various fields, from engineering, medicine, and IT to business and trade.

The robust Indian business community in Kuwait, comprising retailers, distributors, and professionals, has played a pivotal role in strengthening economic ties.

Prominent Indian brands like Lulu Hypermarket and Centre Point have become integral to the Kuwaiti market.

Cultural and social engagement also thrives through more than 200 Indian associations registered with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. These groups actively organise programs to promote cultural exchange and community welfare, further solidifying the people-to-people connection between the nations.

PM Modi said everyone can now feel a big difference in the manner protests are organised.

Bhubaneswar:

Slamming opposition parties for propaganda against the BJP-led NDA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that they have “crushed” the spirit of the Constitution and rejected all norms of democracy. PM Modi, addressing party workers in Bhubaneswar, also said that the opposition has only one aim, “to somehow capture power by misleading people”.

“Those who consider power as their birthright have not been in power at the Centre for the last decade,” he said in an apparent dig at the opposition.

The prime minister said it is quite natural that there would be ideological differences among political parties on different issues, and that they have the right to express their views and resort to agitations.

“During my tenure as Chief Minister and PM, I saw different colours of politics. I admit that a constructive opposition is normal in a democracy. There can be differences of opinion on any decision,” he said.

PM Modi said everyone, however, can now feel a big difference in the manner protests are organised. “The spirit of the Constitution is crushed and all the norms of democracy are rejected.” The PM said that from the very beginning, the opposition parties were not ready to accept the fact that people gave their mandate to the BJP-led NDA.

“Denied of power for the last decade, such parties are now filled with so much anger that they do not hesitate to conspire against the country and its people. They are misleading people with ‘jhoot aur afwah ki dukan‘ (lies and rumours),” he said.

PM Modi noted that such false propaganda is a big challenge for people of India, and BJP workers and “those who love the country and respect the Constitution should be more alert and vigilant to foil such attempts and expose the lies”.

He also said the BJP dedicatedly worked for the development of Odisha even when the party was not in power in the eastern state.

“The Odisha poll results surprised many big political experts, who had completely rejected the idea of BJP forming government in the state… BJP’s election success in Odisha, Haryana, and Maharashtra has created a new confidence in the entire country. This is the specialty of BJP and the capability of our workers,” asserted PM Modi.

The BJP respects and gives priority to the rich culture and tradition of Odisha, he said.

“I am happy that due to the efforts of the BJP, Odisha’s tribal daughter Droupadi Murmu ji is the President of the country today. This has boosted the confidence of daughters from all sections of society. Her journey will inspire many generations to come,” the PM said.

On the All India DGP/IGP Conference that got underway in Bhubaneswar, he said it is being held in Odisha for the first time, though the event has been taking place since the British period.

“We want to give priority to Odisha not only in the country but also on the world map,” he said, adding that after the BJP formed government in the state, it has implemented the National Education Policy and other central schemes.

Besides, ‘Operation Demonstration, 2024′ will be organised in Puri on the occasion of Navy Day on December 4, and the ‘Pravasi Bharatiya Divas’ in Bhubaneswar from January 8-10.

PM Modi said the BJP government has also started fulfilling the promises made during the election.

“The state has launched the ‘Subhadra Yojana’, which will be a symbol of women empowerment. Under the scheme, the government promises to provide Rs 50,000 to one crore women in five years. Similarly, the government has started procuring paddy at a price of Rs 3,100 per quintal as was promised,” he said.

The Congress’ priority is only family, PM Modi said.

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the BJP-led alliance’s sweeping victory in Maharashtra as popular endorsement of its governance model and rejection of the Congress’ “lies and deceit”, as he accused the Gandhi family of spreading the “poison of casteism and divisiveness”.

Buoyed by the NDA’s unprecedented scale of win in the politically prized state, PM Modi flayed the Congress for “betraying” the Constitution’s secular principals and cited the Waqf Act, which his government is seeking to amend, as an example of its “appeasement politics”.

The Congress has tried to inflict capital punishment on true secularism, he claimed, asserting that the Waqf law has no place in the Constitution.

Reiterating his call for “ek hain to safe hain” (we are safe if united), he said this is the biggest message from Maharashtra after the Haryana polls and it has become the country’s “mahamantra”.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for the Congress to come to power on its own, he said, dubbing the opposition party as parasitic.

The Congress and its allies tried to divide people with lies and deceits, he said in an apparent reference to their claim of threat to the Constitution from the BJP, a plank which harmed the ruling party in the Lok Sabha polls in a few states, but were rejected.

The Congress’ priority is only family, he said in a swipe at the party’s Gandhi family and not people of the country. The royal family is now spreading the poison of casteism, he added.

A family’s hunger for power has gone up so much that it has eaten up the party, he said, claiming that fire of disaffection is surging with the Congress as many of its own leaders no longer identify with its existing values.

When it comes to good governance, people trust only the BJP, he said, noting that the party has also put up an impressive show in the bypolls held across the country. It is a historic stamp on the BJP’s governance model, he said.

“Development, good governance and true social justice have won. Lies, deceit, divisive forces, negative politics and nepotism have suffered a big defeat,” he said of the Maharashtra poll results. People have preferred stability and the state has broken all records in its support of the BJP-led alliance, he added.

In a swipe at the longtime BJP ally-turned-bitter rival Uddhav Thackeray, who heads a Shiv Sena faction, he said the leaders who resorted to betrayal and tried to create instability have been roundly rejected by people.

He said the Congress allied with Uddhav Thackeray but the party and its leaders could not speak in support of the policies of his father Bal Thackeray, a leading Hindtutva voice of his time.

With the Delhi Assembly polls round the corner, PM Modi highlighted the popular support for the BJP in major cities in many states and emphasised on his party’s agenda for making Indian cities among the best in the world.

His government has been working to boost urban infrastructure by launching new metro trains, highways and electric buses, he said, describing cities as engines of development that also strengthens villages.

The urban region’s support to the BJP is a message for modern India and a rejection of those putting obstacles in its development, said PM Modi. Urban India wants ease of living and it trusts the BJP, he added. The prime minister noted that Maharashtra has become the sixth state where people have elected the BJP to power for a third straight term, stressing that it underscores people’s truth in its good governance model.

The BJP-led alliance had won a majority in the 2019 assembly polls in Maharashtra but its then ally Thackeray joined hands with the opposition to form government, which fell in 2022, paving the way for the saffron party to power as it allied with the faction headed by Eknath Shinde, who became the chief minister.

“The Congress and its ecosystem had thought that by spreading lies in the name of the Constitution, they could divide the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) in small groups. This is a solid slap on their faces,” said PM Modi.

The Congress and its allies have failed to grasp the changed realities of the country’s mood, as voters do not want instability and believe in “nation first” and not in those preferring “kursi first”.

The voters in Maharashtra also evaluated the Congress on the basis of the false promises made in other states like Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, he added.

“Neither their false promises nor their dangerous agenda worked in Maharashtra,” PM Modi said.

The prime minister said the Maharashtra election also shows that only one Constitution will work in India and that was given to the people of the country by B R Ambedkar.

The Congress and its allies were again trying to create a wall of Article 370 of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

“I want to say this to the Congress and its allies that no force in the world can bring back Article 370 and insult our Constitution,” PM Modi said.

His party has respected the country’s values and traditions, and India will now advance with the mantra of “vikas aur virasat” (development and heritage), PM Modi said.

The Congress, he said, has been stoking divides in the name of region and caste, and that its espousal of urban naxalism has become a challenge for the country. The remote control of this urban naxalism is outside the country, he said.

“PM Modi will visit Singapore on September 4 and September 5, 2024, at the invitation of the PM, his excellency Lawrence Wong,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

“The leaders will review the progress of India–Singapore Strategic Partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. During the visit, Prime Minister will call on President of Singapore H.E. Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam and interact with Singaporean leadership. Prime Minister will also meet with business leaders from Singapore,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release.

PM Modi’s Singapore visit was previously mentioned by Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan after senior ministers of India and Singapore concluded a high-level meeting to further their strategic ties.

A four-member Indian delegation, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Railways and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, recently attended the second India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore.

“A country with more than 1.4 billion people is now embarking on a major upgrade of its aviation sector. This is a once in a two, three-decade opportunity, and it’s good that we are, in a sense, in the front seat and have a chance (to collaborate),” said Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan after the meeting.

During the multi-ministerial meeting, the two countries covered how to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as digital technology, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity, and manufacturing.

“Glad that progress has been made on several fronts since our last meeting. And new ideas for cooperation are being pursued, including in advanced manufacturing and connectivity. These initiatives will pave the way for closer strategic cooperation and partnership between India and Singapore,” said Singapore PM Lawrence Wong after meeting the Indian ministers on Monday.

In 2023-24, bilateral trade between India and Singapore was $35.61 billion, making Singapore India’s sixth largest global trade partner.

PM Modi will be visiting Singapore after a visit to Brunei on September 3-4. PM Modi’s visit to Brunei will be the “first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Brunei and will coincide with the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Brunei,” says Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

“These visits will further strengthen India’s cooperation with Brunei and Singapore both bilaterally and within the regional and multilateral frameworks,” said the Ministry of External Affairs.
