Two Chinese nationals were booted off a plane at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after causing commotion right before the flight was supposed to take off, the police informed on Monday (Feb 10). The woman passenger is alleged to have “acted insane” which prompted the security personnel to intervene and escort her and her partner off the flight, which was bound for Jieyang, China.

According to a report in MalayMail, the couple refused to cooperate with the officers which escalated the situation further.

“The passenger had ‘acted insane’, disturbing other passengers. She and her partner were then brought out of the plane by security officers,” said Azman Shariat, the officer in charge of the police district (OCPD) for Kuala Lumpur.

Couple sedated

Unable to control the couple, health officials were called to administer sedatives to them. Afterward, they were admitted to Sultan Idris Shah Hospital for evaluation due to suspected mental health issues.

“Due to their behaviour, police sought assistance from Health Ministry officers. After an initial check, both were sedated and transferred to Hospital Sultan Idris Shah in Serdang for further evaluation,” Mr Shariat added.

As of the last update, no arrests had been made with the couple testing negative for drugs. They both remain under medical observation. The details of the flight on which the couple was supposed to fly to Jieyang in China remain unclear.

The incident comes in the backdrop of a Chinese couple going missing while travelling to Malaysia. As per local media reports, the couple was scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Jieyang on Sunday (Feb 9) before heading to Nanjing but never arrived.

The phones belonging to the couple are switched off and flight data showed they never boarded the flight, leading to concern among the family members abroad. It remains unclear if it is the same couple that was escorted off the plane by the authorities.

Mr Anand thanked the Railways for the response and said that two people came and rectified the error.

Indian Railways has responded to a passenger’s tweet after he discovered that his booked window seat on a Vande Bharat train was actually an aisle seat when he boarded. The passenger took to social media platform X to share his grievance, posting a photo of his ticket, which clearly showed he had booked a window seat. However, a second image revealed that the seat in question was, in fact, an aisle seat, sparking the passenger’s concern. Though he said he didn’t have any problem with his current seat, he noted that the issue might create future seating inconveniences for other passengers.

“Just a gentle reminder to check seats 33 & 34 of C8 in 22435 for Window and Aisle Seating arrangement. I don’t have any problem with my current seat but this might become a problem for future passengers,” the tweet by Abhijeet Anand read.

Reacting to his tweet, Railways Seva said, “For necessary action escalated to the concerned official @Drm_dli. We request you to please share Mobile No. with us preferably via DM. You may also raise your concern directly on http://railmadad.indianrailways.gov.in or dial 139 for speedy redressal.”

Mr Anand thanked the Railways for the quick response and said that two people came and rectified the error. “Thank you for your prompt response. Two people came and addressed the issue of the incorrect seating arrangements. It is truly commendable that Indian Railways took action and marked the problem within 40 minutes,” he wrote.

The Vande Bharat Express is an indigenously manufactured, semi-high-speed, self-propelled train set. It features modern amenities such as fully air-conditioned coaches, GPS-based passenger information systems, comfortable seating, and automatic doors. Designed for speeds of up to 180 km/h, it significantly reduces travel time between major cities.

The engineer could not fix the broken seat, the passenger claimed.

A passenger on a Delhi-Bengaluru flight slammed Air India after receiving a broken window seat despite paying additional money for it. The incident happened on Thursday, April 4 when the passenger noticed the broken seat, following which the airline enlisted the help of an engineer. The engineer, however, could not fix the broken seat, the passenger claimed. He further questioned Air India for their poor services and asked why the airline couldn’t even provide a proper seat for passengers.

“Paid extra 1k for a broken window seat (22A) on Air India AI512 from DEL to BLR on 4th Apr. They called the engineer to fix it, but he couldn’t. Is this what I paid the flight fare for? Can’t I at least expect a proper seat after paying so much?” the passenger wrote on X and also tagged Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Ministry Civil Aviation.

Air India replied to the passenger’s tweet and asked him for the booking details. They later assured him that the airline would investigate the matter and take corrective action.

”Hi, thank you for sharing the details. Your feedback is crucial, and we apologize for falling short of expectations. We’ll investigate the matter and take corrective action. Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” the airline wrote.

In January this year, Shreyti Garg, a content creator, also highlighted the subpar in-flight facilities despite the expensive ticket prices. Travelling with her 2.5-year-old and seven-month-old kids, Ms Garg expressed disappointment as the in-flight entertainment and lights for three seats weren’t working, leaving her and her family in the dark. The broken seats and lack of entertainment made the journey less pleasant than expected, prompting her to share her concerns in an Instagram video.
