With about 8 to 10 lakh vehicles passing through Noida Expressway daily, traffic congestion has become a significant issue. So to address this, the Noida Traffic Police has introduced new rules for vehicles that break down and disrupt traffic on the Noida Expressway. The new rule will allow the traffic police to issue heavy fines and even impound vehicles that break down and obstruct traffic flow on the expressway that connects Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi and Yamuna Expressway. For now, the rules only apply to commercial vehicles, but officials made it clear that these rules will soon be implemented for all kinds of vehicles.

The fines for obstructing the free flow of traffic on the Noida Expressway will be levied under Section 201 of the Motor Vehicles Act, with penalties ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000.

Lakhan Singh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), said that the new rules aim to raise awareness among commercial vehicle owners to keep a check on their vehicles so traffic snarls can be avoided. He clarified that commercial vehicles include buses, trucks, DCM, overloading vehicles, etc. Mr Yadav also said that the penalty would be imposed on private vehicles soon.

“About 8 to 10 lakh vehicles pass through Noida Expressway. Areas like DND Flyover, Chilla Border, Prerna Stahl, etc., are the main hotspots where traffic-related issues emerge the most,” DCP Yadav told PTI.

“In the last seven days, we have seized 22 vehicles for breakdowns and around 210 vehicles were also issued challans,” he added.

Krishna Kumar Sharma, a resident of Greater Noida said, “It is a good initiative and will help in the unwanted disruption of the traffic on the Noida Expressway.” However, another resident Anil Kumar Chetiwal said, “Vehicles with emergency situations like flat tyres or some technical issue should not be fined.”

Meanwhile, the new rules come about 2 months after officials announced new speed limits for light and heavy vehicles on the Yamuna Expressway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

On Yamuna Expressway, the speed limit has been reduced from 100 km/h to 75 km/h for light vehicles. For heavy vehicles, the speed limit has been reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h.

On the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the speed limit is reduced from 100 km/h to 75 km/h for light vehicles. For heavy vehicles, it has been restricted to 50 km/h from 60 km/h earlier.

The new rules will remain in effect until February 15, 2025, covering the peak winter months when road conditions are often considered hazardous.

Noida:

The president of a high-rise society in sector 99 has asked the owners who have rented flats to bachelors or couples to submit a marriage certificate or a consent letter from their family.

The move came after the death of a 23-year-old law student, who fell to death from the 7th floor of the Supreme Tower society in Sector 99 on January 11 of this year. A probe is on in the matter.

However, SS Kushwaha, Secretary of the Supreme Towers Apartment Owners Association (STAOA) said, “That is not the opinion of the board, V N Subramaniam President has circulated it on his own.” V N Subramaniam, the president of the Supreme Towers society’s Apartment Owners Association, sent an email to flat owners on January 21, in which he asked all flat owners to submit the said documents to the association’s office on or before January 31.

The email states, “Flat owners renting to bachelors (boys or girls) must ensure submission of detailed information, including addresses and approvals from family members. And if bachelors are cohabiting with members of the opposite gender, they must submit either a marriage certificate or a formal approval letter from their family.” “These measures are implemented in the interest of safety, security, and maintaining harmony in the community,” it mentioned further.

One of the staff, on the conditions of anonymity, said that it is a good decision to avoid the nuisance created by the bachelors in the society.

“Bachelors provide fake certificates of their parents and on that basis they become tenants. And after some time some mishaps occur,” he said, adding that it is a good decision, because it will stop “unnecessary nuisance in the society”.

An LLB student, who lives in the society, said, “They should also focus on the security checks and give warnings to those who create nuisance at night. It will reduce unnecessary nuisance created by some tenants and would also not impact others, those who are living peacefully.” “There are various incidents that occurred in the past. I live with my friends and comply with the rules and regulations, I have no issue,” added another student who lives in Tower 3 of the society.

Talking to PTI, Kushwaha said, “That is not the opinion of the board, the President has circulated it, on its own. There is no resolution to that effect by the board, so that is the official stand of the board.”

Noida:

A 50-year-old doctor was found murdered in a house he had rented out in Greater Noida, while the two tenants living there are on the run, police said on Tuesday.

Dr Dinesh Gaur’s body was found soaked in blood in a room of his house in Sanjay Vihar Colony, Kulesara village, on January 26, police said.

Police suspect that a man and a woman who were living on rent in the house murdered the doctor.

The accused woman and man had rented the doctor’s house just three days ago and have been on the run since the incident, they added.

“Gaur used to live with his family in Pocket-D, Kundli, Delhi. He also had a house in Sanjay Vihar Colony, Kulesara village, Greater Noida, where he had built a room to rent out. He had made this room his temporary rest area,” said Lakshmi Singh, Media In-charge of Noida Police Commissioner.

“On the evening of January 25, Gaur came from Delhi to his house in Kulesara. His son called him on January 26 but did not get any response. When he reached the house late at night, the door of the room was found locked from outside,” Lakshmi Singh further said.

Lakshmi Singh added that when the doctor’s son opened the door, he found his father lying in a pool of blood following which he informed the police.

While Gaur’s body has been sent for post-mortem, police said that the accused are being tracked using CCTV footage and a search team.

At least 16 government employees were made to stand up for at least 20 minutes

New Delhi:

At least 16 employees of the Noida residential plot department had a back-to-school moment when they had to remain standing for 20-odd minutes as a punishment for keeping people waiting at their counters. The ‘stand-up’ punishment, visuals of which were caught on camera, followed an order from Noida CEO Dr Lokesh M, who was infuriated with the staff for making people wait at counters for long durations.

About 65 CCTV cameras have been set up at the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority’s office that hundreds of Noida residents visit every day for a variety of work. The CEO, a 2005-batch IAS officer who took charge of Noida last year, often scans footage from these cameras and asks staff not to keep people, especially senior citizens, waiting for long.

On Monday, the CEO spotted an elderly man standing at a counter. He immediately asked the woman official at the counter to attend to the elderly man and not keep him waiting. He also asked her to tell the man clearly if his work could not be done.

About 20 minutes later, the CEO noticed that the elderly man was standing at the same counter. Upset with this, the CEO reached the residential department and gave a dressing down to all the officials at the counters. He then asked them to stand and work for 20 minutes. A video that has now gone viral shows the officials, many of them women, standing and working after the CEO’s punishment.

Social media users have praised the CEO’s move and said such actions were necessary to ensure prompt response in government offices.

Noida:

The last rites of five family members, who died in a car accident here while they were out to seek help for an ailing child, were performed in Noida on Monday.

Their relatives and acquaintances bid a tearful adieu as the five pyres were burned together.

The accident took place on Sunday near the Knowledge Park area on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, according to police.

The family members- Aman (27), his father Devi Singh (60), mother Rajkumari (50), Vimlesh (40), and Kamlesh (40) – lived in Kashiram Colony, Dadri, and all of them worked as labourers, according to their relative Dharmendra.

Dharmendra said the family included his family members who were visiting various hospitals in Noida and Greater Noida seeking medical help for a two-year-old child. However, they were turned away by doctors who said the child’s condition was serious.

While the child was at Pediatric and Postgraduate Institute of Education (Child PGI) in Sector 30, Noida, for initial treatment, five of them headed towards Delhi to enquire about hospitals where he could be admitted.

They were on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway when their car collided with a broken-down vehicle parked on the side of the road near Sector 146 Metro Station around 6 am on Sunday, the police said.

In the crash, Aman, who was driving the car, died on the spot, while the four others were injured. The injured were rushed to a hospital, where doctors later declared them dead.

Meanwhile, the child, Devesh, who had been admitted to Noida’s Child PGI, has been taken home by the family.

The postmortem of the family members was conducted at a mortuary in Sector 94, where Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma visited and consoled the family members.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed top officials to reach the site and assist the victim’s family in every possible way.

Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar also met the bereaved family and offered his condolences.

The police have registered a report based on the complaint filed by Jeevanlal, a relative of those killed.

Harshita Mishra, a talent acquisition specialist, received late-night texts from rejected candidates.

New Delhi:

An HR professional from Noida has shared screenshots of inappropriate messages she received from candidates who weren’t selected for a job. In a LinkedIn post, Harshita Mishra, a talent acquisition specialist, raised the disturbing trend of rejected candidates crossing professional boundaries and sending inappropriate messages at odd hours. She called it a “regular occurrence”.

“Let’s be clear, rejection is a chance for growth, not an invitation to overstep. My phone number is solely for professional communication. As professionals, you’re here to build your careers, if not then at least strive to be respectful human beings who value others’ boundaries and time,” she wrote.

One of the job-seekers called her the “most beautiful girl in the world”, pleading with her not to get “angry”. In a series of messages, the man reminded her, “You took my interview” adding, “You are so beautiful that I haven’t been able to forget you ever since.”

Screenshots show how the man messaged the HR professional repeatedly despite not receiving any response from her. He called her at least five times in a row and even requested to hear her voice for a second or two.

“I am just asking,” he said.

Another screenshot shows a man sending love poetry to Harshita after being rejected for a job. When asked for feedback, Harshita said, “Need improvement. Not fit for us.” Soon after the rejected candidate started sending her love poems hinting that he could not live without her.

It doesn’t end there. Another candidate first asked for a second chance to share a revised resume or “proper CV”. He even asked for the years of experience required for the role. But within minutes, he changed the course of the conversation and went on to pass lewd remarks on her physical appearance.

“You were looking hawwt that day!” he texted, adding that he had not been able to “sleep or wake up” since he saw her.

Harshita shared screenshots without hiding mobile numbers to “expose” the offenders.

“I’m committed to maintaining a respectful and calm demeanor, even in the face of inappropriate behavior. Don’t mistake this for my weakness,” she wrote, adding that people who cannot maintain “even a basic level of professionalism have already failed – both as a professional and as a human being”.

Netizens are in shock. Many users went on to advise Harshita on what she should do or should have done in such a situation.

“I am not saying its your fault… but you will have to contact with the employees through official email instead of whatsapp…” commented one LinkedIn user.

“Sadly, any woman, by default, is not safe,” wrote another and shared five tips including not sharing one’s personal number, asking the organisation to divide the list of candidates gender-wise, and quitting if the company isn’t doing anything about it.

“Don’t wait for ten messages, you can simply block unknown people who text you at midnight,” they added.
