Calling it a “divisive conspiracy”, BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday (September 9, 2026) launched a sharp attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for allegedly creating controversy surrounding the “shuddhikaran” (purification) ritual performed at the rally venue of Mallikarjun Kharge.

Addressing the BJP State working committee meeting in Haldwani, Mr. Nabin said, “From this very soil of Haldwani, the Congress national president played a political game and hatched a conspiracy which reflects his divisive politics and divisive thinking.”

He further alleged that slogans associated with a particular religion were raised from the “sacred land” where the purification was performed. He accused Congress of trying to exploit the episode for political gains.

Congress president Mr. Kharge addressed a rally in Haldwani on August 8. On August 11, members of the Shri Ram Sena Dharmarth Seva Nyas Sangathan conducted a ‘shuddhikaran yagna’ (purification yagna) at the venue.

Following the purification, Congress demanded police action against those who performed the act, alleging that the same was done because Mr. Kharge belonged to Dalit community.

Mr. Kharge also raised the matter in the Rajya Sabha in the recent monsoon session, demanding cases under laws dealing with untouchability against those who carried out the purification ceremony and calling for their arrest and imprisonment.

An FIR in the matter was lodged on September 8. The police had previously filed an FIR against Mr Gandhi as well for his remarks surrounding the controversy.

Mr. Nabin further questioned the party’s record on Dalit issues and asked what treatment the Congress has given to leaders such as B.R. Ambedkar, Jagjivan Ram and Sitaram Kesri. He also cited alleged incidents involving Dalits in Rajasthan, Karnataka and Kerala to argue that Congress had no moral standing to claim concern for Dalit welfare.

He also attacked the Congress over its past policies during the period when Article 370 was in force, alleging that members of the Valmiki community in Jammu and Kashmir remained confined to sanitation work despite higher educational qualifications.

He hailed Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s government for implementing the Uniform Civil Code and other measures for public benefit, and expressed confidence that the BJP would return to power in Uttarakhand in 2027.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Monday (July 6, 2026) said his party would form government in Jammu and Kashmir in the near future.

“Like Jammu, the lotus will bloom in Kashmir as well and Jammu and Kashmir will have a BJP government in the near future,” said Mr. Nabin, who arrived in Jammu on a two-day visit to review the party’s organisational affairs.

Mr. Nabin’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir came on the 125th birth anniversary of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who died in a Jammu and Kashmir jail in 1953, and paid tributes to him.

“Mookerjee devoted his life to strengthening the unity of the country. His vision for Jammu and Kashmir was realised after decades. The BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi accomplished Mookerjee’s vision for Jammu and Kashmir and ended the special constitutional status and integrated the region fully with the rest of the country,” said Mr. Nabin.

Reflecting on the changes in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of provisions of Article 370 in 2019, Mr. Nabin said, “Previous governments had created an atmosphere. Hoisting the national flag in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk was viewed as a challenge to peace. The situation has changed under the Modi government and the Tricolour now furls without fear,” said the BJP president.

He said Jammu and Kashmir’s youth were establishing themselves in the fields of sports and other fields and the region once associated with unrest was earning recognition through achievements in sports.

“The move (of 2019) brought real freedom and opened new opportunities for the people. The Centre’s welfare measures had helped millions of people across the country rise above poverty,” he added.

Earlier in the day, hundreds of party workers welcomed the BJP chief. He also reviewed the party functioning and focused on expanding the party’s footsteps in the Kashmir valley.

On Tuesday, the BJP chief will visit the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple before paying tributes to Prem Nath Dogra at his statue in Dogra Chowk. He is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with BJP members of Parliament and legislators, former elected representatives.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday (July 4, 2026) in Lucknow said that the BJP will register a decisive and thumping victory in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections and asked the party leaders to reach out to every section of society.

Mr. Nabin, who reached Lucknow on a two-day visit, added that he was overwhelmed by the respect received in the land of Lord Shri Ram.

The BJP’s president tour is seen as an attempt to strengthen the party’s preparation going into the crucial Assembly polls. “In 2027 again a double engine government will be formed in Uttar Pradesh for the third consecutive time with a huge majority. The double engine government has done a lot of development of the state. The duo of Narendra Modi Ji and Yogi Ji has made Uttar Pradesh a great State,” he said, addressing State office-bearers and district presidents in Lucknow.

“We must not be fooled by the Opposition. We must work for the development of Uttar Pradesh. If you want to make a place in the common people’s heart and mind, you have to reach out to them. You have to travel to every village, every home, every person. You have to effectively convey the schemes of the double engine government and the programmes of the party to every voter,” he said.

The BJP president also chaired a meeting of the party MPs and MLAs. “The outpouring of public support in Lucknow today clearly shows that the people have unwavering faith in the NDA government’s resolve for a ‘developed India’, good governance and public welfare policies under the guidance of the respected Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and the leadership of the Honourable Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji. With the spirit of ‘Nation First’, each of our workers is working with full devotion and dedication to make Uttar Pradesh the ‘growth engine’ of the country and to realise the resolve of forming the NDA government again in 2027,” he added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, National General Secretary (Organisation) of the BJP B.L. Santhosh, U.P. BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary, and Deputy CMs Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya were present on the occasion.

BJP State leaders summoned to Delhi over cross-voting https://artifex.news/article71122666-ecerand29/ Fri, 19 Jun 2026 15:14:00 +0000 https://artifex.news/article71122666-ecerand29/ Read More “BJP State leaders summoned to Delhi over cross-voting” »

BJP national president Nitin Nabin with Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra, during a recent visit to Bengaluru.

BJP national president Nitin Nabin has summoned the party’s State unit president B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, and in-charge of party affairs in the State Radha Mohan Das Agarwal to Delhi on June 23 over cross-voting in the just-concluded Legislative Council elections in Karnataka.

The party high command has expressed its unhappiness with the development, and this may lead to a revamp of the State leadership, multiple sources in the party said.

The State unit on Friday formed a fact-finding committee under the leadership of C.T. Ravi, MLC, to identify cross-voters, since these polls are a secret ballot. N. Mahesh and Mahesh Tenginakayi are members of the committee. Sources in the party said the high command will also take independent reports from other leaders.

In a significant departure to the party’s stand on Thursday, Mr. Vijayendra on Friday pegged the number of cross-voters from the party at “four to five”. Mr. Ashok had said it was three on Thursday. This implies that some of the BJP MLAs allocated to the JD(S) candidate also cross-voted.

Meanwhile, Chandru Lamani, Shirahatti BJP MLA, one of those allocated to vote for the JD(S) candidate, claimed that he and Krishna Nayaka, another MLA, had “honestly” voted for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate. “A section of the media unfairly speculated that we may have cross-voted. This has embarrassed us in our constituencies,” he said.

‘Creating division’

Mr. Vijayendra said the Congress was trying to speculate on the names of cross-voters from the BJP to create divisions within the party. “There is no question of sparing those who betrayed the party and cross-voted. They cannot hide forever. The fact-finding committee will uncover them and subsequent to that, the party will take stringent action,” he said.

BJP candidate Lingaraj Patil, who was allocated 30 MLA votes, got only 27, clearly indicating three cross-voters from the party. However, BJP had allocated four votes, including of Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, expelled MLA, who had announced support to the BJP. But, he was allocated the JD(S) candidate. But the candidate polled only 14 votes, as against 18 JD(S) MLAs. While JD(S) concedes that four of their MLAs cross-voted and they did not get BJP votes, the BJP on Thursday maintained that their votes were indeed transferred, implying eight from the JD(S) cross-voted. However, Mr. Vijayendra has now pegged it at “four to five”.

BJP ‘factionalism’

Meanwhile, the BJP is more worried about the three MLAs — of the 30 allocated for party candidate Lingaraj Patil — who cross-voted. Mr. Patil did not get the adequate 28 votes and won only in the elimination round.

Sources said that while R. Raghu (Kautilya) was the candidate from one faction, Mr. Patil from Hubballi was from the opposite faction. The BJP fielded V. Nagaraj, also from Hubballi, in the Rajya Sabha elections, to fill a seat vacated by Iranna B. Kadadi from Belagavi. This prompted party leaders from the district to seek a MLC seat for the district.

However, the MLC seat also went to Hubballi. The dominance of this faction in both Rajya Sabha and MLC election candidate selection did not go down well with many, which could have played out in the elections, sources said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin instructed his party workers in Jharkhand on Sunday (June 7, 2026) to gear up for the 2029 Assembly Election in the state.

He was speaking during a meeting held at the party office in Ranchi as part of a two-day visit to the State that concluded on June 7, 2026. State office bearers, presidents of state wings (Morchas), district presidents, and district in-charges were present for his first visit there after becoming the party’s national president.

Addressing the party workers and leaders, Mr. Nabin said that the present team in Jharkhand will lead the party in the next elections. He asserted that every worker must gear up for 2029 and learn from past polls.

“Jharkhand was, is, and will remain a BJP stronghold. Although the party did not achieve the expected success in the last election because opposition parties misled the public with false promises, people still hold more affection for the BJP in their hearts than for the ‘INDI Alliance’,” Mr. Nabin said.

Transform the atmosphere

He pointed out that the party failed to win the public’s trust, but now is the time to transform the atmosphere of disappointment into hope. He added that the organisation must be revived by motivating booth-level workers.

Mr. Nabin directed that regular monthly meetings be held at all levels from the State down to the Mandal (block/cluster) level to maintain continuous communication with grassroots workers.

He stressed that there was a need to discuss shortcomings at the booth level during Shakti Kendra (power centre) meetings and focus on resolving them. He also directed that the formation of all party wings be completed up to the Mandal level and a target be set to build a team of at least 100 active workers in each Mandal.

He alsoinstructed district presidents to respectfully engage veteran and senior workers, prepare a list of those who have served for three terms, and reintegrate them into organisational activities. He stressed that the party takes precedence over the individual. He also opined that the organisation can be strengthened by establishing better coordination between senior and junior workers.

Mr. Nabin said, “District offices must be organised and active not merely administrative hubs but centres for organisational engagement and dialogue with workers. District heads should be present to maintain contact with the party cadre.”

Talking about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which is set to begin in the state on June 20, he directed party workers to approach the exercise seriously and called for regular reviews of SIR activities from the state to the booth level.

He also instructed that dialogues and conferences be organised to interact with 500 prominent, enlightened citizens in every district. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words on Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India 2047), stating that the dream of a developed India would only be realised if the BJP’s organisation is strong at the booth level and workers dedicate themselves to organisational expansion with their full energy and commitment.

Jharkhand BJP President Aditya Sahu and Leader of Opposition in Jharkhand Assembly Babulal Marandi were also present during the meeting and asked party workers to launch agitations on local issues.

On the lines of Jharkhand, Bihar Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitin Nabin on Sunday (December 8, 2024) raised the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration.

The Minister asserted that the Bihar government will take strict action against the illegal immigrants taking shelter in Seemanchal regions where Muslims population is over 47%.

Bangladeshi infiltration issue raised by the BJP in Jharkhand backfired and the party saw a humiliating defeat, winning less seats than the last Assembly elections in 2019.

Keeping in mind the Assembly election in Bihar due next year, BJP has once again started its move to build momentum with the issue, which did not work in the neighbouring Jharkhand.

“Action must be taken against Bangladeshi staying in Bihar. In Seemanchal region there is high possibility of infiltration. The resources of Bihar and India must be utilised by the people staying here and not by Bangladeshi. These people must be identified and action should be taken,” Mr. Nabin said while speaking to the media in Patna.

Seemanchal, located in north Bihar, comprises four districts: Purnea, Katihar, Kishanganj and Araria. The four districts represent 24 Assembly constituencies. Seemanchal is therefore important for the 2025 Assembly polls both for the INDIA bloc and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar.

When the caste-survey was carried out in Bihar — the BJP was then not the alliance partner of Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) — the saffron party had questioned the format in which the exercise was carried out and termed it “flawed” alleging that it could potentially “tamper with the citizenship register.”

The party had said that the process ignored the threat of counting illegal Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya as Indian citizens. Seemanchal is a border region with Nepal next door and Bangladesh not far away.

Seemanchal, which has a high concentration of the Muslim populations, is considered the stronghold of the Opposition Mahagatbandhan (grand alliance) in Bihar.

In the recently concluded Jharkhand Assembly elections, out of 81 assembly seats, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led INDIA bloc won 56 seats while the NDA secured 24 seats.

Bangladeshi infiltration, demography change and corruption were among the major issues the BJP kept raising in Jharkhand during its campaign.

When asked that the issue was raised by BJP in Jharkhand but did not work, Mr. Nabin further said, “This not an issue, it is a matter of investigation and we cannot tolerate Bangladeshi infiltration in Bihar.”

However, alliance partner JD (U) distanced itself from the statement of the BJP Minister.

“Nitish Kumar ji has already carried out the caste based survey and its report is there in public domain. Despite that, if anyone feels that people from other countries are staying in Bihar then it is a matter of central government and centre should look after it.,” said Anjum Ara, spokesperson for the JD (U).

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) too slammed BJP for raising the issue, calling it a political stunt.

“Whenever election comes, the BJP starts raising such issues. Border issue comes under the home department of the Centre, so they should look into it. BJP is trying to grab the political benefit from the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration. They did the same in Jharkhand but got nothing. Same results would be visible in Bihar. BJP will never talk about employment and development rather they want to divide and rule by raising Hindu-Muslims issue,” RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav said.
