Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher for the third day on Friday (July 31, 2026), tracking a sharp rally in Bajaj Finance, foreign fund inflows and a decline in crude oil prices. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 166.49 points, or 0.21%, to settle at 78,094.64. During the day, it jumped 344.1 points, or 0.44%, to 78,272.25. The 50-share NSE Nifty gained 66.45 points, or 0.27%, to end at 24,383.60.

From the Sensex pack, Bajaj Finance jumped 8.11% after the firm on Thursday (July 30, 2026) reported a 28% year-on-year rise in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to ₹6,081 crore for the June quarter of FY27, driven by growth in core income and improvement in asset quality.

Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, Bharat Electronics and Titan were also among the winners. Tata Consultancy Services, Eternal, Infosys, ITC and InterGlobe Aviation were among the major laggards. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth ₹3,623.51 crore on Thursday (July 30, 2026), according to exchange data.

“Positive momentum continued, although some profit booking emerged at higher levels as caution persisted amid elevated yields and potential rate-hike concerns. The sustainability of the recovery will depend largely on the ongoing earnings season, which is currently outperforming forecasts, and on a reduction in global risks,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said. The domestic IT index witnessed profit booking following its recent rally, he added.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, climbed 0.45% to $89.43 per barrel. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI rebounded sharply and jumped 17.91%. Japan’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index also ended in the positive territory.

Markets in Europe were trading in the green. U.S. markets ended significantly higher on Thursday (July 30, 2026). On Thursday (July 30, 2026), the Sensex ended 273.55 points, or 0.35%, higher at 77,928.15. The Nifty went up by 66.95 points, or 0.28%, to settle at 24,317.15.

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended higher on Thursday (July 30, 2026), driven by a rally in blue-chip stocks Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank and foreign fund inflows.

After a volatile day of trade, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 273.55 points, or 0.35%, higher at 77,928.15, helped by fag-end buying. During the day, it hit a high of 78,007.09 and a low of 77,440.91, gyrating 566.18 points. The 50-share NSE Nifty went up by 66.95 points, or 0.28%, to end at 24,317.15.

From the Sensex pack, Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank and Power Grid were among the major winners. Adani Ports, InterGlobe Aviation, Bajaj Finserv and Bharat Electronics were among the laggards.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought equities worth ₹2,981.87 crore on Wednesday (July 29, 2026), according to exchange data. “The Fed’s decision to maintain the status quo on rates was largely anticipated, but hawkishness remained due to continued emphasis on inflation control. A sharp uptick in U.S. bond yields signalled growing pressure for a possible rate hike in the near future, keeping global investors on edge, while renewed crude oil volatility amid West Asian tensions added to external uncertainty,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

As a result, domestic equities stayed range-bound with sharp intraday swings, as investors weighed global headwinds against resilient domestic fundamentals, he said. “Nonetheless, strengthening FII inflows, a firmer rupee, and encouraging Q1FY27 supported sentiment, prompting investors to treat dips as selective buying opportunities,” Mr. Nair added.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, climbed 0.45% to $91.15 per barrel. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI and Shanghai’s SSE Composite index ended lower, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index settled in positive territory.

European markets were trading higher. U.S. markets ended significantly lower on Wednesday (July 29, 2026). The Sensex jumped 888.68 points, or 1.16%, to settle at 77,654.60 on Wednesday (July 29, 2026). The Nifty climbed 264.85 points, or 1.10%, to end at 24,250.20.

The 30-share BSE Sensex advanced 75.71 points to 77,726.62 in early trade. The 50-share NSE Nifty went up by 26.90 points to 24,275.85.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index traded lower, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 index quoted in positive territory.

U.S. markets ended significantly lower on Wednesday (July 29, 2026). “The U.S. Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged, but an unusually hawkish outcome with three policymakers dissenting in favour of a rate hike pushed long-dated Treasury yields close to two-decade highs,” Rajesh Palviya, Head of Research, Axis Direct, said.

The Dow Jones declined 2.19%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq lost 1.52% and 1.74%, respectively, amid renewed selling in technology stocks, he added. On Wednesday (July 29, 2026), the Sensex jumped 888.68 points, or 1.16%, to settle at 77,654.60. The Nifty climbed 264.85 points, or 1.10%, to end at 24,250.20.

“Indian equity markets ended higher ahead of the U.S. Federal Reserve’s policy decision later today, with resilient domestic fundamentals outweighing weak global cues. Strong corporate earnings, sustained buying in Information Technology stocks, and a firmer rupee helped support investor sentiment, even as Asian markets extended their AI-driven technology sell-off and elevated Middle East (West Asia) tensions kept crude oil prices near recent highs,” R. Ponmudi, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, said.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, jumped 3.79% to $87.28 per barrel. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI tanked 5.98%. Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended flat on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) as investors’ sentiment turned cautious ahead of key global central bank policy meetings this week and heavy sell-off across Asian markets.

The 30-share BSE Sensex dipped 69.86 points, or 0.09%, to settle at 76,765.92. During the day, it hit a high of 76,988.48 and a low of 76,672.77, gyrating 315.71 points. The 50-share NSE Nifty slipped 10.60 points, or 0.04%, to end at 23,985.35.

From the Sensex pack, Hindustan Unilever tanked 6.97% after the FMCG major reported a 3.17% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹2,680 crore for the June quarter, mainly on account of exceptional items and higher taxes.

Bharat Electronics, NTPC, ICICI Bank, Power Grid, and Reliance Industries were also among the laggards. Tata Consultancy Services, Eternal, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, and Titan were among the major gainers. “The respite in crude oil prices provided relief to markets by easing concerns over inflation and input cost pressures. However, investor sentiment remained cautious ahead of key central bank policy meetings this week, including those of the Fed, BoE (Bank of England), and BoJ (Bank of Japan),” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, dropped 2.82% to $85.87 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹1,688.23 crore on Monday (July 27, 2026), according to exchange data.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI tanked 10.84%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Shanghai’s SSE Composite index also ended lower. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index settled marginally higher. “Indian equity markets ended largely flat as a broad selloff across Asian markets weighed on investor sentiment,” R. Ponmudi, CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, said.

Markets in Europe were trading in positive territory. U.S. markets ended on a mixed note. On Monday (July 27, 2026), the Sensex jumped 776.01 points, or 1.02%, to settle at 76,835.78. The Nifty surged 228.50 points, or 0.96%, to end at 23,995.95.

Stock markets snapped the five-day losing streak on Monday (July 27, 2026), with the benchmark Sensex jumping by 776 points following a sharp decline in crude oil prices amid easing tensions in West Asia.

The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 776.01 points, or 1.02%, to settle at 76,835.78. During the day, it soared 841.74 points, or 1.10%, to 76,901.51. The 50-share NSE Nifty surged 228.50 points, or 0.96%, to end at 23,995.95, ending its five-day losing trend.

Among Sensex firms, Eternal jumped the most by 5.70%. InterGlobe Aviation, Infosys, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and Mahindra & Mahindra were also among the gainers. HDFC Bank, Power Grid and Axis Bank were the laggards. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, tanked 9.40% to $87.64 per barrel.

“A pause in strikes in West Asia has eased concerns over rising import costs and inflation, triggering a relief rally in markets. The sharp correction in crude oil prices, along with a decline in long-term bond yields, has also raised hopes of a durable resolution, supported by signs of long unwinding,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹3,892.77 crore on Friday (July 24, 2026), according to exchange data. “After five consecutive sessions of losses, the Indian stock market closed on a positive note, supported by broad-based buying and improving global sentiment. Investor confidence strengthened as easing Iran-U.S. tensions pushed crude oil prices lower, reducing inflation concerns for India,” Gaurav Garg, Analyst, Lemonn Markets Desk, said.

The BSE SmallCap Select index jumped 1.71% and the MidCap Select index climbed 1.65%. Mid-Small Private Banks’ Quality Tilt jumped the most by 2.36%, followed by IT (2.30%), Realty (2.25%), Focused IT (2.09%), Services (2%), Auto (1.53%) and Hospitals (1.43%). Telecommunication emerged as the only laggard. A total of 2,776 stocks advanced, while 1,580 declined and 202 remained unchanged on the BSE.

“Investor sentiment improved after crude oil prices declined sharply following reports of a temporary easing in geopolitical tensions in the Middle East (West Asia). The positive undertone was further supported by encouraging quarterly earnings from select companies across sectors, while renewed buying in IT stocks added momentum to the recovery,” Ajit Mishra, Religare Broking Limited, said.

In the last five trading days, the BSE benchmark tanked 2,091.68 points, or 2.67%, and the Nifty declined 566.85 points, or 2.32%. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index ended higher. Markets in Europe were trading higher. U.S. markets ended mostly higher.

On Friday (July 24, 2026), the Sensex declined 331.62 points, or 0.43%, to settle at 76,059.77. The Nifty dipped 102.15 points, or 0.43%, to end at 23,767.45.

Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Friday (July 24, 2026), extending the losing streak for the fifth consecutive session, as investors remained cautious owing to rising oil prices amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia and renewed concerns over U.S. trade tariffs. Fresh foreign fund outflows and selling in HDFC Bank also dented market sentiment.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 331.62 points, or 0.43%, to settle at 76,059.77. During the day, it tanked 916.96 points, or 1.20%, to 75,474.43. The 50-share NSE Nifty dipped 102.15 points, or 0.43%, to end at 23,767.45.

From the Sensex pack, Eternal, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints and Infosys were among the major laggards. IT services company Infosys declined 1% after it tempered the upper end of its full-year revenue forecast to between 1.5% and 3% amid continued macroeconomic uncertainty. HCL Tech, ITC, Axis Bank and Tata Consultancy Services were among the winners.

“Indian equity markets extended their losing streak to a fifth consecutive session as investors remained cautious amid lingering geopolitical tensions in the Middle East (West Asia) and renewed concerns over U.S. trade tariffs. Weakness across Asian markets reinforced the risk-off mood, prompting broad-based selling despite signs of easing pressure in energy markets,” Ponmudi R., CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, said.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, dropped 3.66% to $96.98 per barrel on Friday (July 24, 2026), after surpassing $100 per barrel in the previous session. “Market sentiment is likely to remain under pressure in the near term, as sustained oil prices in a higher range could begin to adversely impact key macroeconomic indicators and growth dynamics.

Washington’s new tariffs on imports added another headwind for export-driven economies, with technology-heavy markets having been hit the most as higher rates weigh on growth and investors are increasingly seeking to diversify their concentrated exposure to other emerging market opportunities,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹2,999.23 crore on Thursday (July 23, 2026), according to exchange data. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI tanked 5.72%. Japan’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index also ended lower. Markets in Europe were trading higher. U.S. markets ended lower on Thursday (July 23, 2026).

On Thursday (July 23, 2026), the Sensex declined 363.66 points, or 0.47%, to settle at 76,391.39. The Nifty dipped 126.65 points, or 0.53%, to end at 23,869.60.

Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled in early trade on Friday (July 24, 2026) as crude oil prices crossed $100 per barrel mark amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the West Asia. The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 512.07 points to 75,869.38 during initial deals. The 50-share NSE Nifty declined 153 points to 23,713.60.

From the Sensex pack, InterGlobe Aviation, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, Bajaj Finance and Trent were among the major laggards. InterGlobe Aviation slipped over 2% after IndiGo reported a ₹238 crore net loss for the three months ended June, as higher fuel prices and the West Asia conflict resulted in turbulence for the country’s largest airline. InterGlobe Aviation is the parent of IndiGo.

IT services company Infosys declined over 1% after it tempered the upper end of its full-year revenue forecast to between 1.5% and 3% amid continued macroeconomic uncertainty. HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services and Sun Pharma were the winners.

Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, was quoted 0.03% lower at $100.7 per barrel. “The total uncertainty and high volatility in markets continues without any signs of immediate respite. The attack on Saudi tankers by the Iran-backed Houthis in the Red Sea is the main reason for the recent sharp spike in Brent crude to about $100. Such a high price is bound to revive India’s Balance of Payments concerns,” V.K. Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹2,999.23 crore on Thursday (July 23, 2026), according to exchange data. In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI tanked 5.56%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index were also trading lower. U.S. markets ended lower on Thursday (July 23, 2026).

On Thursday (July 23, 2026), the Sensex declined 363.66 points, or 0.47%, to settle at 76,391.39. The Nifty dipped 126.65 points, or 0.53%, to end at 23,869.60.

Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Thursday (July 23, 2026), extending losses for the fourth straight session, as a sharp jump in crude oil prices due to escalating tensions in West Asia weighed on investor sentiment.

The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 363.66 points, or 0.47%, to settle at 76,391.39. During the day, it tanked 603.07 points, or 0.78%, to 76,151.98. The 50-share NSE Nifty dipped 126.65 points, or 0.53%, to end at 23,869.60.

From the Sensex pack, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, InterGlobe Aviation, Axis Bank, State Bank of India and Tata Steel were among the major laggards. Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Eternal and Bajaj Finserv were among the winners from the pack. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, jumped 4.52% to $98.32 per barrel.

“Indian equity markets extended their decline as escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, a sharp rise in crude oil prices and renewed concerns over global AI spending weighed on investor sentiment,” Ponmudi R., CEO of Enrich Money, an online trading and wealth tech firm, said.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹819.20 crore on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) after a day’s breather, according to exchange data. “With crude oil prices approaching the $100 per barrel amid concerns over further disruptions to global energy supplies, investor sentiment remained subdued as markets reassessed inflation risks and corporate margins,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said.

In Asian markets, South Korea’s KOSPI jumped 4.40%. Japan’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai’s SSE Composite index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index also ended higher. Markets in Europe were trading lower. U.S. markets ended in the negative territory on Wednesday (July 22, 2026).

On Wednesday (July 22, 2026), the Sensex tanked 715.06 points, or 0.92%, to settle at 76,755.05. The Nifty declined 191.45 points, or 0.79%, to end at 23,996.25.
