N. Chandrasekaran has resigned ‌as chairman of Tata Sons but will serve out his current ‌term, Reuters reported ​on Wednesday (August 12, 2026), citing a source ⁠with direct knowledge ⁠of the matter.

Mr. Chandrasekaran said he will not seek reappointment when his term ends on Feb 20, 2027, asks board to decide successor.

Tata Group ​stocks fell up to 4% on Wednesday (August 12, 2026) ​after Reuters reported that Tata Sons ‌Chairman N. Chandrasekaran had resigned, ‌sparking a ‌selloff ⁠across the conglomerate’s ⁠listed companies. India’s top IT services ​exporter, Tata ‌Consultancy Services (TCS), led the losses, sliding 4.1%, ‌while Jaguar ​Land Rover-parent Tata Motors PV ⁠fell 2.8%.

Mr. Chandrasekaran, who had joined the Tata Sons board in October 2016, was designated chairman in January 2017 and took official charge in February 2017 in the aftermath of the sacking of Cyrus Mistry as Chairman of Tata Sons.
