Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker and Thousand Lights MLA J.C.D. Prabhakar on Saturday inspected civic conditions in the M.K. Radha Nagar area and said sewage stagnation and drainage issues raised by residents would be addressed within 15 days. He added that stringent action would be taken to curb alleged sales of narcotics in parts of the constituency if specific information was provided to the authorities.

During an interaction with residents, Mr. Prabhakar said officials had been instructed to clear stagnant sewage water and modernise the drainage network in the locality. Residents said sewage water had remained stagnant for more than three years. He said he would inspect the locality again after 15 days to check status without prior notice to officials.

The locals had sought reconstruction of old tenements in M.K. Radha Nagar. Plans for new housing projects were being prepared, and an announcement would be made shortly, he said. Demolition orders had already been obtained for tenements in Nakkeerar Nagar and Siva Shanmugapuram, he added.

Responding to reporters, he said officials had been instructed to ensure the supply of drinking water through tankers between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. in the locality. On complaints regarding ganja sales in parts of the constituency, he said action would be taken if specific information was provided to authorities.

Venkataramanan inspected renovation and infrastructure improvement works worth ₹12.22 crore at Nageswara Rao Park spread across four acres, according to a press release. He reviewed the park’s gym facilities and instructed officials to maintain the exercise equipment and install signboards properly.
