Soufiane Rahimi and Gessime Yassine came off the bench to help Morocco rally for a 4-2 victory over Haiti on Wednesday (June 24, 2026) and erase the Caribbean nation’s hopes of a first ever point at the World Cup.

Morocco twice came from behind against a team playing at soccer’s biggest tournament for the first time in 52 years.

Rahimi’s deflected shot in the 78th minute put Morocco ahead 3-2 and Yassine killed off any chance of an upset with a goal in the 89th.

Morocco advanced to the round of 32 in second place behind Brazil in Group C. The five-time champion Brazilians beat Scotland 3-0 in the other group match.

‌Morocco have set their sights on topping their group ahead of Brazil but are not too concerned about the possible permutations that would follow for them in the first knockout round, coach Mohamed Ouahbi said ahead of their last group fixture against Haiti.

A win over already-eliminated Haiti on ‌Wednesday would lift Morocco to seven points and give them a chance to finish ahead of Brazil in Group I, ‌depending on(Wit the outcome of the clash between the five-times world ‌champions and Scotland in Miami. Morocco’s qualification is not confirmed, but with four points is highly likely.

Haiti, despite their exit, are determined to give everything to earn the country’s first points at a World Cup, having lost all three games on their only previous appearance.
